Old body style or new body style?

New body style...there should be a bar type thing that holds it in place.

Old body style, there are two different styles. One where you can take the headlight out without pulling the bumper cover off, and the other where you need to pull the bumper cover off.

Wiggle the assembly around while looking for any areas where screws seem to be missing.

Need to replace bulb for front parking light/turn signal on a 94 ford probe

There should be a cover on the back of the assebly. a few crews and some metal clips. I dont think you have to remove the whole assembly to change it if i remember right. it should just be a protective cover.

Need to replace low beam light in my 2002 GMC Safari Van how do I do it?

Open the hood & near the top of the headlight you will see 2 bolts (10mm), remove them. You will notice the whole headlight assembly is loose from the top. Look down into the headlight assembly to the left & you will see another 10mm bolt that connects the outside light fixture. Remove the bolt & that light fixture will fall out (top first). Behind that light fixture you will see your last bolt when you look at the front of the vehicle. Remove it & now the entire light assembly will slide out & give you access to the both high beam & low beam bulbs. Hope this helps.

How do I replace headlight?

Some one posted this on newbeetle.org.

Quote....."

1. Open the hood.

2. Now look down into the front corner of the engine compartment to where the headlight is. You will see a black assembly tucked up in the fender.

The whole headlight assembly is close to 8" long. Since the driver side light is more interesting we will do that one. Yes you can get the drivers die headlamp out without touching the battery. I replaced the driver's side low beam lamp without removing the battery.

Before trying to do the next step of the black lever you must release the metal clamp flip the small coat hanger looking shaped like an M up this releases the metal strap around the headlight assembly bucket now press the button next to the lever the button has a crosshatch design on the small button about a half inch by quarter inch.

You must find the button if you try to move the black lever up without pushing in the small button you will break the lever and then you will be off to VW to buy a new headlight bucket assembly. In my '99 Beetle there is a lever that sticks out of the headlamp assembly shield.

Lifting up on the lever rotates a ring that unlocks two posts on the headlamp assembly. It can now slide straight out of the fender. The assembly rides on three tracks left side, right side and bottom.)

3. There is a black metal strap and clasp around the assembly with a metal clip on it. The clip flips back and opens up. There is also a black plastic lever sticking out of the assembly.
Next the clasp and metal strap you will notice the lever that expels the light assembly. Mine was curved indicating that you pull up on it. As you do so the lever slides you will see the headlight start to come out of the fender.

4. Once the lever is up as far as it can go you can pull the headlight assembly out of the front of the fender carefully. This was a bit messy since the caulking on our 98 was starting to go and the dealership had put some goo around it to stop leaks I think. The light assembly in our case did take some coaxing to get it to slide out and we had to play with it for awhile, but it did finally come out

.
5. On the back you unplug the wires.

6. There is a plastic cap that comes off and you can access the headlight bulbs

7. After the housing is off, you will notice the lamp connector. There is a spring or hasp that keeps the lamp in the housing.

8. We had to change the low beam lamp (the one on the top of the assembly), so once the clip was removed the lamp can be pulled out of the assembly..

9. Once the lamp is pulled out you are almost done. The lamp is connected to the wires with a blade type connector. Just wiggle it from side to side to remove it. Take the new bulb (DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS ON THE NEW LAMP, if you do it will be ruined and you will be replacing it shortly). Once you placed the new lamp in, you can follow the instructions in the reverse order to put things back together.

10. When you are totally done, before you hook the battery back up and totally button things up, try the new light out quickly to make sure its working. All done." Unquote.

Last night, I hit a bird with my 2010 Nissan Versa hatchback. The bird broke the plastic that covers the front driver headlight, but the ligh bulb was not damaged. Can I just replace the plastic part or...

The headlight is an assembly and will have to be replaced as such. If the damage isn't too severe, sy just a crack, you may be able to repair it temporarily with a hot glue gun. If you can keep moisture from getting to the halogen bulb, it will work until you can have it replaced. Even though it is a 2010 model, check with the local salvage dealers to see if you can find a used one.

How do you replace the front turn signal on a 2005 Buick Terraza?

Changing front, right turn signal on 2005 Buick Terraza: Open hood; when facing the front of vehicle, the right turn signal is on the passenger side (left). The headlight assembly needs to be removed to easily reach the turn signal. On my vehicle, there is a 10 mm screw on the left side. Remove it. There is L-shaped pin on the right side of the headlight assembly. Swing the pin counter-clockwise (to the left). Pull the pin straight up to remove. The headlight assembly is now loose, but there is a pin snapped in a socket on the back of the assembly that still holds the assembly. Pull the headlight assembly hard and straight to the front of the vehicle. When it snaps loose, the assembly is now held just by the rubber gasket surrounding the assembly. You need to gently work the right side of the gasket out of the grill cowling. The assembly should pull straight out. The wires are long enough to lay the headlight assembly in the engine compartment. Finally, the turn signal is now accessible. Twist the light holder counter-clockwise and pull out the light holder. Change the bulb. Do not punch your man-card for credit until you have successfully reinstalled the headlight assembly. It goes back in a little easier the second time. Once you have put the L-pin in place, the screw back, and successfully tested the lights, you can now punch your man-card.

I give the mechanical engineers and designers a D-minus instead of an F only because I was successful on the first try. No light bulb on anything commonly used by people should be this hard to figure out.

How do I remove a headlight in my 2008 Beetle to change bulb

Open hood at fender well you will see black lever, lift this lever to the top of the slot the light assembly is loose pull the whole thing out from the front. You may have to jiggle it around a bit but it comes out as one piece then you can change the light. When you put it back it is kinda cranky but it will go then lower the lever.

Condensation in car headlight

Composite headlights tend to do this in time. Pull the light unit, and run a small bead of silicone around the assembly where the 2 pieces meet. Also check the seal on the bulb itself. If it is cracked or loose, replace it.

How to change the whole headlight assembly on a 05 Honda CRV

You have to remove the front bumper and grill etc

There are 5 bolts holding the headlight assembly in place. 2 at the top and 3 underneath.

Remove the plastic cross piece by prising out the clips and then the grille clips too then unbolt the bolts eithr side under the wheel arch. The bumper is still fastened using cips. Pull the bumper forward to unclip.
