Question about 1985 Chevrolet Citation

The fan in my 1999 Chevy Cavalier only works on the last two speeds. It doesn't matter if it is the heater the A/C or just the fan. What is wrong and how do I fix it?

I just replaced mine. It's behind the fan motor on the passenger side behind the glove box. Grab a flishlight, get on your back in the pass side floor board and look up. One screw and pull it out. Dan

You need to replace the blower motor resistor. I can't remember if it under the hood or under the dash on this car but when you buy one ask the parts store for the location it is a easy fix.

Overheating 1999 chvey cavalier

My 2001 Cavalier was overheating, as well. We replaced the radiator cap, and this stopped the issue. Pressure wasn't building up to run fluid through the hoses, which you could check visually. Also, if a cap doesn't do the trick, and you've already checked that your radiator is full, you could get a new water pump installed. I bought one at a pepboys and it was around $30. Also, there could be a fan issue. I replaced my fan as well (the radiator cap was the last suggested fix, but it was the cheapest). The fan was about $10? Nothing too expensive in this group of solutions, though.

Where is heater relay switch on 2003 chevy avalance

This may be the same problem already posted. If the fan doesn't work, a LIKELY problem is the thermal fuse on the fan speed resistor has opened. You can either replace the whole resistor which is in the air plenum to be cooled by airflow, or you can replace the thermal safety fuse on the resistor that is a two lead device suspended on two protrusions above the resistor. Search Gooogle for 2003 chevy avalance heater resistor for photos of the device.

It could be:

1. A fuse
2. The fan switch
3. The motor itself

Watch out! You might have a loose wheel! Check those wheel nuts. If not, a loose brake caliper, or last if not least, a bad wheel bearing. Don't drive it until you find out what the heck is wrong! Could be dangerous.
