My 1993 Grand Marquis's right rear window will not go up or down with the switch. The window will slide up and down easily if pushed by hand. I've removed the interior door trim and water shield. At the inside of the bottom of the door is a loose cable, Not broken, that will pull in and out with the the window motor switch but it is not hooked up to any thing on the window track. Can you show me a schematic of what the cable is suppose to hook to. Another cable is hooked to the top of the motor but I am having difficulty tracing where this connects to. I can not see if it is hooked up correctly, but a schematic of this would help.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    BGC1HOME@aol.com

I had same prob but the cable raps around the top and bottom of track top u cant even see where it goes on. in order to get back on track u have to remove track anyway mine was 2 nuts on top and 2 rivets on bottom prob is when u remove nuts on top the bolts that r mounted to track are too long to slide track out i had to remove glass which is very delicate process. it cost me 129 and apx 3 hrs worth of work i would suggest shop or if u just want it to stay up remove door panel slide glass carrier up and put self tapping screw in track that what i did to pass side lol

I'm in the same boat. We had the rear window replaced by the shop a couple of months ago, but the driver side window is doing the same thing. I don't want to spend another $250 if I can do it myself.

The front side driver's window won't roll up.

you shoud replace the window winder motor/assembly. the cable from the motor has likely broken loose from the asembly bracket. this can sometimes be repaired, but any professional mechanic would just replace the whole assembly. fixing the assembly is somewhat of a jimmy-rig, and it doesnt always last very long.

IF YOU LOOK WHERE THE PULL HANDLE IS YOU WILL FIND A BLACK OUTER CABLE WITH A WIRE INNER, THAT BLACK BIT MAY HAVE COME OUT OF HOLDER . IF THE INNER IF STILL ATTACHED TO THE HOOD CATCH AND HANDLE, THEN HOLD THE OUTER AND WHEN PULLING THE HANDLE PULL THE OUTER AWAY FROM THE HANDLE THIS WILL RELEASE IF NOT BROKEN,

Windows dont move down or up

you have to rebuild (which can be ghetto rigged, but never is reccomended) or replace the window winder units. they can be removed, find the rail which those loose cables came from and remove it, it should be an assembly with the winder motor attached. be sure to remove the bolt that attach to the window mount also. if you can locate the place where the end of the cable is supposed to mount (on a little slider thing) and make a new mount for the end of the cable, then take apart the winder motor spool, and re wind the cable inside the spool, then put it back together, you have ghetto rigged yopur winder. if you cant do all that, you will have to replace the whole unit at a cost of around $120.
