Yes it is high.
plugs at 4-5.00 each = 20-30.00 4 cyl. or 6 cyl.
wires maybe 40.00
cap & rotor maybe 30-50.00
labor @ 15.00 hour maybe 2-3 hours at most.
30-45.00
total 165.00
should be under 200.00

My 1999 lexus es300 is still reading the codes P0300, P0302,P0303 after giving it a tune up.

Your codes indicate misfires. What was done in the "tune up"? Misfires can be caused by any of several different causes including (but not limited to):
spark plugs
spark plug wires
coil packs
injectors
injector wires

The term "tune up" used to mean, "replace points, condenser, distributor cap and rotor, and plugs". Since most cars no longer have points, condenser, distributor cap and rotor, we need to ask what was done...

Tune- up

distributor cap ? w/ rotor (inside) , also, a tune-up includes the following, : replace spark plugs, plug wires, both the air & fuel filters, an absolute must !!!!!! change motor oil, & oil filter. and one more maintenance issue always over looked, change the TRANSMISSION fluid & filter !!!!!! (do not over-fill ) . if everyone did all these before winter & or inspection time, they wouldn't have the problems they get.

What do i need to tune up my 2003 nissan maxima

Depending on the mileage it could need a few things. Your basic tune up will include replacing the distributor cap & rotor, ignition wires, spark plugs (6), and the fuel filter. My car will not start and i recently changed the spark plugs but did not gap them the person told me i didnt need to so im asking you hat is the proper gap cause i think i need to gap them and replace the...

You always have to at least check spark plug gap

In 47 years, I have never seen a set of plugs that were not
knocked around & the ground electrode bent, on at least
a couple of them

You can clean a rotor & cap & get 3 years out of them,
no need to replace until they get too corroded

Wires last 15 years no problem
Don't get caught up in all the hype & tune-up non sense

The gap is on the radiator support label

The coil has to be tested, you don't throw parts at a problem

If it doesn't start, it has nothing to do with rotor, cap, plugs or wires

You could throw away 2 plugs & it would start on 6

Ran fine then hard starting, stalls then starts up.replaced fuel filter and pump next to filter?

You may need to give it a general tune up, including spark plugs, wires, and cap and rotor (if applicable to your application.) Sounds like there is crud on the plugs.

Hyundai sonata 2003 v6 what do i need for a tune up.

A tune up is generic. i don'y have specific part numbers or anything, but a tune-up generally consists of:
Spark Plug replacement (6 of them)
Spark Plug Wire replacement (6 of them)
Fuel filter replacement
Air filter replacement
On older vehicle, one would check all the components that involve spark, such as distributor cap & rotor. You might not have these, yours may be computerized, no service required until it fails.
A tune up would also include a review of all recommended service items as noted in your owners manual. Some of these might be mileage related. Such as, timing belt & transmission fluid replacement.
I normally do not do tune-up's unless the vehicle is having a problem. If you end up taking your vehicle to a mechanic to diagnose a problem, he will suggest many of these items before beginning his diagnosis.

What do you call a tune up?

U are correct, a 'tune up' is not an oil change, although the oil certainly can be changed at the time of a tune up (every 3k miles or twice a year if u don't drive much, and always change the oil filter too). Cars differ, mostly older to newer as to what can and should be done for a tune up. A car from the 1960's would need more parts replaced more often than a new car today (example: electronic ignitions of newer cars eliminate ignition points replacement, and generally, replacement is not as often of other parts: example, spark plugs).
So, a tune up can include spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and I would include fuel and air filters. There are exceptions to this too, making it more complicated to generalize what to replace, as wires and spark plugs can last 100k miles now, some vehicles don't have the traditional dist. cap and rotor to replace. Check your car owners manual for an idea of what to replace and how often. If u don't have the original owners manual, check the car manufacturers web site for info. Good luck with the tune up!
