Question about 1988 Chevrolet Corsica

1 Answer

95 Chevy Corsica 2.2L

Hi all,

the POS starts, runs (if you want to call it that) pops and chokes and then dies. Any suggestion as to where to start looking. As a side note, I just changed the fuel pump a few months ago. Has been running fine until Friday when this started. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi , my engine start and then stops after 5 seconds and it is not the relay of the pump for gas or ecu

I suggest disconnecting the mass airflow sensor and see if the car idles. If the car starts then you have a bad sensor. The next step would be to inspect data on scantool and look for scewed coolant sensor reading . coolant sensor readings should not fluctuat. Good luck

Starts but wont run after ignition switch is returned to the run position from the start position.

The problem is that when you have the switch in the START position, you are getting power to the ignition system, but not when in the RUN position. Most likely causes are a bad ignition switch, a faulty aftermarket alarm system [if it has one] or a bad ballest resistor wire going to the ignition coil's + terminal. You need to break out your test light and start checking to see where the fault lies.

Took battery out of my 1993 buick riviera, put back in now starts then dies

how did you disconnect the battery, pos first then neg ? or neg first then pos ? try starting it and after started, hold your rpm at 1500, for about two minutes, then if still running, drive it to get to.speeds of 40 for about 15 minutes, this is to relearn if not, disconnect your battery, take the pos and neg cable and touch them together and hold for about a minute, then Connect them back, neg.first.then pos, then follow steps above to.relearn.

1995 toyota tacoma 2.7 ,I have put a new fuel pump, fuel filter, disturbuter, ignition modul, runs great sometimes then will just start to die and choke down as if no gas or no fire

Sounds like you may need a fuel pressure regulator. These are an often over looked culprit for the problems your vehicle is experiencing. After replacing the mentioned parts and components, The fuel pressure regulator would be the next thing to look at. A side note: it is never a good idea to just throw parts in trying to find the problem. Always use the process of elimination. Most often the problem is minor.

Keeps dying

You will need to figure out if you are loosing spark or fuel when it stops running. Each system has its own group of tests to run to find the cause.

Vehicle seems to not be getting enough gas because it chokes up when u accelerate and dies when you put it in gear

it could be the pickup screen in the tank is clogged from dirt in the tank being stirred up when you ran it dry then put gas in you will have to drop the tank to look at it or dirt could have made it to your injectors or throttle body

I have a 95 chevy corsica. It will run good on highway but when i stop it dies and i have to let it sit for about 15 min and it will start . Now it wont start at all. it will turn over but no...

So what it sounds like, is that your not getting any fuel. More than likely your fuel pump died and you will need to get this replaced. You can have a friend or relative lay under the car and hit the underside of the gas tank with a rubber mallet; sometimes this will jiggle the fuel pump enough to allow gas flow. If this works, you could make it to your local repair shop to have it replaced.
