Question about 2006 Mini Cooper
I have experienced total loss of power steering. It took about 45 mins to remove the pump and 2 mins to remove the cooling fan. Two bolts that hold the pump in the surrounding frame are accessible from the rear of the frame near the down pipe of the manifold. My problem now is that after bench testing the fan that works ok and a pump that may or may not work I am unsure of where to go. The research I have seen state there are numerous fuse locations associated w/ this car.
Replacing the pump seems to be the easy part just truly diagnosing the problem is another. I am working this afternoon to get to pump working so I will post other findings tonight or tomorrow.

I ran into the same problem at 120,000 miles. from what hte dealer says is they normally go out about 80k-90k and is going to cost around $1000 to get the new pump and fan.
I had to change my power steering and fan in my 2004 mini also. the job wass fairly simple. I took me about and hour to get it replaced in my drive way. if you have the bentley repair manual for the mini cooper , they explain how to do it. hardest part is to get the lines off the old pump before removing it and not making a mess. if you need more info let me know.
