Engine part Hi there was wondering if you could help me i am trying to determine the name of a part under the bonnet of my r reg 323, it mixes excess fuel gases with excess carbon gases and puts it back into the engine to burn off it has a diaphram in it if that helps thank
Kellie81.
I think the part that your reffering to is the 'posotive crank ventilation valve', its job is to recycle the harmful gas from the lower end or sub assembly of the engine case and reburn the gas that is generated there.

Mr, Parker check first the fuse box for any blown fuse and also any relay. Fuse box is on the driver's side legroom and also for relays under bonnet engine compartment. Another possibility for side lights might the bulbs blown and and dashboard as well. For better resolve ask the help of an expert-car electrician.
This is likely not in your transmission. It sounds like you may also be experiencing some low acceleration and poor mileage. The open bonnet is indicative of needing repairs under the bonnet. It sounds like a probable misfire (i.e. bum spark plug or plug wire(lead)). This doesn't sound too major but do have it inspected before it becomes catastrophic in the future. Cheers and let me know if you need anything else. Just occurred to me, is this a diesel engine?
You need to have the engine control module scanned for fault codes, when that check engine light came on a fault code was stored, that code is likely the key to diagnosing this problem
If indeed the bonnet cannot be opened from inside the car, then you are going to have to climb under or figure out how to get to the latch under the bonnet and open it. Hard pain in the rear but its the only way
Hopefully the cable has not snapped. Have someone else lean on the bonnet a little. (Not too much or you will dent it) Try and operate the catch while they are leaning and releasing. Or sometimes dust can accumulate on the catch. Perhaps you can spray under the bonnet with a can of WD40 and hit the catch. Try the above trick again after you have sprayed it. Once you get it open find the cause before you close it again :)
