Question about 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

1 Answer

2005 Chey Cobalt, 73,000 miles. Car feels as if it's wobbling at low speeds or when breaking. Breaks still seem to work fine in terms of stopping the car both quickly an abruptly and slowing at a distance. Car gives more of a bounce when going over a bump.

What happens if the drive belt breaks

if a drive belt breaks, the debris can interfere with other engine components and do additional damage. rule of thumb belt life is 6yrs or 60000 miles. the belts operate critical engine systems ( alt, water pump, power steering pump) not something to short cut on. belts are noisey when cold due to additional load from battery use when starting or cold fuuids. have belts and tensioners checked for wear and correct operation

In my toyota yaris, when i use breaks in low speed my car goes slightly forward, then breaks works.

Check the condition of the pads, disks, and operation of both. They should be freely moving. Also check that your brake lines are free of air and that your fluid is clean.
Also check that the vacuum line to your brake servo is intact, and that you have adequate vacuum to your servo.

When i go from stop to start at approx 15 miles a hour, there seems to be a thumping in rear, what I think passenger tire, then drives normal and away. appears again when i apply breaks and get to a low 15...

Jack up rear end and spin the wheels by hand. Inspect tyre tread for wobbles or distortions, bubbles or otherwise.

Rotate wheel and inspect brake disks and pads. Replace if necessary.

While rotating the wheels, feel for any rumbling or free play in the wheel bearings.

Wobble when I hit the breaks at high speeds 60 to 65mph

Its possible one of the new rotors was dropped before it was installed.
If it only happens when you hit the brakes it almost has to be a brake rotor out of round or a slick spot on the surface.
Same thing with the slow speed grab. It could also be on the rear instead of the fronts.

I need help with a strange throbbing noise coming from my 2006 cobalt ss. The noise is coming from the passenger side and sounds like either a warped rotor, tire out of balance, or a wheel bearing going...

We can rule out the tire and rim since it blanced with no issues and I'm assuming no wobble was found during the balancing procedure. Rotors were turned, so we can factor this out also. The only component that can not be ruled out is the bearing, it seems fine, but we need to know that it is fine. Has the vehicle been jacked up and supported, placed in gear to see if the noise happens when the wheels are not touching the ground?

215 is not overheating. Does it keep getting hotter the faster you go? Does it cool off when slowing down or at idle? Does the Fan clutch or electric fan come on? When the engine is this hot.
