Check the distubitor. If it is the opti spark type distrubitor, under the water pump, the distribtor cap is bad and needs replacing. I had the same problem on a 95 chevey camaro and 97 Trans Am and I also thought is was the trans but there was nothing wrong with the trans. So as I replaced it ran better than ever. The best one to get is the one that MSD has for a replacement.

I am sorry but if you will read your statement you will see that it is hard to make out what the problem is. but i think you are trying to say that your car is not shifting when your on the gas and when you get up the a 100 it start kicking, pute pute. if this is the problem change the trans fluid, filter and trans module. as far as the 100 miles, gmc has a bald out point unless the motor has been set up for racing she will bald out. also what is called a govner cuts off the gas and cause the car to speed up and bald out then speed up as u called it pulse, not allowing the car to get over that 100 mph speed.
