Question about 2005 Ford Excursion
While driving home Friday on the interstste, the Excursion quit running! No warning. No noise etc. I'd slowed to let a car in, then went to resume speed. I pulled over, and stopped. It started right up. Got almost home, and was turning into my subdivision, and it died again. I put it in "N' and started right up, thank goodness or I would've been board sided.
Second thing, I've noticed for several months, is this new noise. The only way I know to explain the sound is it sounds like getting the last little bit of milk shake out of the bottom of a cups with a straw. This seems to happen at slower speeds, and when I take my foot off the fuel peddler to slow down. (My husband has heard this too, so I am not just hearing things.)
Can you help me on these two things?

Check for a recall on the crank position sensor, it will make it stall also the fuel transfet pump might be getting weak, it is on the frame rail just under the drivers door it keeps pressure up in the line and when they get hot might not keep pressure up.dont listen to anyine sayong to spray AMYTHING down the throat .there are electronics in the air line into the air cleaner and at minimum kill a sensor but starting fluid and the like are extremely flamable and the 6.0l engine has a intake heater and will ignite the fluid and cause a explosion. yes it does happen, Im a diesel mechinic for 20 years.I have a 2000 diesel w/ 7.3. did you get a check engine lite on when it started or shut down?
