Make sure LEDs are fitted with correct polarity direction.
An L.E.D. is a special type of diode and is similar to a transistor. Diodes and transistors are "solid state" devices that are made from semiconductors such as silicon. The semiconductor is made to contain two types of special impurities. The first type of impurity, calL.E.D. "N" for negative, is a material with an excess of electrons. The other type of impurity, calL.E.D. "P" for positive, has a deficiency of electrons in "holes." These two kinds of impurities are dispersed into the semiconductor at different regions, so that a "P-N junction," or active layer, is created at the border.

Hi,

If I understand your concern right, it would seem that the flashing rate of your aftermarket signal lights are off (too fast). The reason is that the flasher relay of your vehicle depends on the current flowing through it to produce the on/off/on effect. As you posted, the bulb resistance of the original was low hence the current would be comparatively high compared to the LEDS (high resistance) hence less current flow. Corrective procedures would require:

  1. replacing your flasher with an electronic flasher (original is electro-mechanical). There are even versions where the flash rate and lenght of time on could be adjusted; or
  2. wire a ceramic power resistor in parallel to each LED group to lower its resistance. To determine the value and wattage, use a continuity tester to measure the old bulbs resistance and the wattage is normally stamped on the base of the old bulb(s).
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

have you tried using another flasher relay with lower amp capacity?

2001 mercury grand marquis reading code p305 misfire, spark plugs and coils changed

If you changed the #5 Coil then the code was wrong

You get lots of wrong codes on a ford, as a bad coil
spikes the pcm when grounding out to fire the coils
secondary side

Try putting the old coil back & walking the new one to
another cylinder, may take many days & many miles of
driving to get it fix,but better than a shop guessing, because

2001 grand marquis airbag light came on when car got wet

It's an American car, so it doesn't like to get wet per se. Dry it out and if the issue doesn't persist, then consider it fixed.

2001 Mercury grand marquis' keyless entry pad is flashing and beeping even when car turned off. Everything else is working normally.2nd time this has happened. 1st time disconnected battery and it stopped....

Same problem on my 2000. Apparently moisture gets into the pad and shorts it out. The constant lock/unlock and lights flashing (also headlights comin on if you have them on automatic) will run the battery down in no time. I solved it temporarily by unplugging the keypad plug behind the door trim. That will still give you the door lock/unlock funtions from your remote. Only fix is to replace the pad.

2001 Mercury Grand Marquis hyper flashing on directional lamps

It would probably be easier and a better idea to just get the correct bulbs.

The use of the wrong bulb can cause the flasher to flash too fast or too slow. Turn signals on American cars use either a 1257 or a 1034 bulb, which are interchangeable. A 1257 bulb draws more current than a 1034, however and if it is used in place of a 1034, the flasher will flash faster. If a 1034 bulb is used in place of an 1157 bulb, it will flash slower.
