Question about Ford Aerostar

1 Answer

Took it in and had it put on diagnostics, it acts like it needs a tune up however we have already had that done. So diagnostics said it needs a new ignition coil pack.. we put that on... and still it misses.. even back fired once and it loses power .. it runs rough then for no reason runs fine .. I am at a loss PLEASE HELP?

1994 aerostar 4 liter all wheel drive. hesitated for some time when cold, now stalls when cold when you accelerate from a stop. 2 years ago i replaced the fuel pressure regulator as the diaphragm in it failed. this led to fuel filling the intake manifolf via the vacuum line from pressure regulator. I have scanned the computer, no codes set in koeo test. generates 2 codes during koer test. one engine coolant temperature sensor out of range, second for cylinder balance test failure-throttle movement. I suspect the there might be air leakage into the throttle body from around the snorkle and wonder if it is so; could this unmetered air give enough of a false reading from maf sensor to cause stalling cold? the engine runs fine warm. Also, sometimes, it is misfiring on start up, running very rough.

My 2001 Ford Escape has 150000 miles. Started having a problem staying running when idling. Fuel filter was cleaned and ran fine for a couple weeks. Then started having problem with hesitating and "chugging" when driving at city or hwy speeds. This problem is intermittent. Completed recommended tune up. Ran fine for a couple weeks then same problem. Replaced two ignition coils. Ran fine for a couple weeks then same problem. It is in the shop now! Any ideas?

Stutters when driving under pressure

check the fuel pressure regulator and the injectors, the common problem with this car is the crank sensor, located on the gearbox, behind the engine, did the home tune carryout a computer diagnostic, if not get one done asap, it will save u money and time.
