200 Dodge Neon Stalls when at a stop light

My son has a 2000 Neon that stalls when at a stop light. If he puts it in park it is o.k. It does not stall all the time and sometimes can be prevented by putting it in park. Help!

My 2000 neon does same thing. I tried coil pack, high $ plugs, high $ wires, and many gas additives..all to no avail...problem just recently went away on its own after 2 months of doing nothing. I just put it in neutral when @ a red light.

I have a 2000 Dodge Neon and was having the same problem. I changed the spark plugs and wires and got a new air filter also my power steering belt was starting to go bad so I replaced that as well, but I think it was the spark plugs that was causing it to stall. Hope that helped good luck.

2000 dodge stratus 2.4l dohc stalls at stops starts up with very light touch of gas pedal may or may not stall again for a coule stops but will again rpms go from around 800 at idle to 500 then 200 th

If it's fuel-injected, you may need to have the injectors cleaned, and also, any air filters should be changed at the same time along with gas filter/s. If it's carbureted, the same as above, but have someone clean the carburetor completely. Make sure all air hoses are attached correctly, securely and NOT broken. If broken, replace them.

2001 dodge neon stalls at stop lights. cleaned out the iac valve, made a difference, but still wants to stall at stop lights.

Check fuel pressure and a possible vacuum leak.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

My 2000 neon stalls when driven for 15 mins or when temp on the dash is warm. Then it stalls and can't be driven.

Change your thermostat out! Your car may be overheating. Make sure that you are keeping the radiator fluid full.

Why does my 200 Dodge Caravan keep stalling? Is it the computer?

If it won't idle but it will run fine when you drive it and only stalls when you come to a stop then it is possible be the idle air control valve. The computer controls this idling and this will not always set a check engine light on or set a diagnostic trouble code.

2000 neon .... stalls when coming to a stop

Try this procedure for stalls like this.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of spray intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
