My answer:

Most likely it has 4 fasteners on the backside, and you will need to get down on the floorboard at night and shine a bright flashlight up under that dash area so as to physically reach behind and feel around to see what is there. I don't have a service manual for Jeeps, but you can get one at Pepboys - AutoZone - Kragen Auto, etc.

If it's not screwed in from the front with metal type plastic screws - then it's either snapped in place or else it has plastic studs with nut caps on the back.

What possibly happened is that the vacuum line cracked off or just came loose in the back of the lever switch mechanism, or else a control rod broke away from the selector switch.

Hopefully that sheds some light on the problem.

Let me know?

High- would be blower speed & not related to bend doors positions

Have to find out the location of all Vent Blend Doors, then see what
ones don't switch as they should & replace the failed ones or the
controlling item, if they are all electronic

Get a picture of the vent doors & then go under the dash & find the problem

2003 jeep grand cherokee heater problem

Jeep Grand Cherokee is notorious for broken blend-air doors. This is the door inside the A/C-heater housing that switches the air from hot to cold. You must remove the dash to repair it.

REPLACED BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL MODULE...Now blower is working but not very much air flowing out of vents! Fan speed is working...it heat and cools. but still not adequate air flow from the vents ..2000...

check your blower hoses to see if one or more have come loose or got redirected or the selector switch isn't functioning properly (is it blowing better on defrost as opposed to floor vents, or forward vents, etc.)
Good luck

Air or heat only comes out defroster. vacuum lines are fine. cruise control works. is it a switch or the vent actuator?

If its manual lever that you have, then check the cable behind the unit with your temp controls.chances are it came off,or came loose under the dash.If its all push button vacuum operated, then its a air leak in the lines somewhere,or it very well can be a bad switch.

Blower vent selector switch not working. Only works in defroster position

this is what is called a factory default. for safety purposes if there is a problem with the wiring in the climate control system it defaule to the defrost position so you can see out the window. this can be a pretty tough job, the whole dash may have to come off. unless you well versed in automotive diagnostics and troubleshooting, and have the right equipment, I would take it to a local automotive technician.

2001 Grand Cherokee blower goes to defrost under acceleration

You have a vacuum leak. Look under the dash and check the placement of the vacuum hoses that activate the vent doors. One or more may have slipped or may be cracked.

Are you saying that the switches are bad?
Or that when you turn the blower on and select a different temp. it doesn't change temp.?

Your mode door is controlled by vacuum check the vacuum hose on the left side of the intake manifold. these some times fall off leaving your mode door with no vacuum and the default position of the mod door is defrost.
