Location of the water temp guage sensor?
When in Run the needle comes off the peg, but does not read any temp. Found the coolant sensor and it checked ok according to book. The relay checked bad and was replaced, but the fan (checked good) still won't come on. Are these the same sensor? Is it possible the engine is not getting hot enough? There is no indication of overheating. Do I have two seperate problems?

Temp sensor is located under the air intake near the thermostat housing. No signal from there and fans would not know if needed.

Location of engine coolant temp sensor on 1995 saturn sl

On my daughters sl2 it is on the driver side. A note though, there are 2. Crazy i know, one above the other. One goes to the guage and one to the computer. When my son had the car it would not stay running at idol, had to rev the engine to keep it going. The engine would shake hard too, what through me was the guage in the care read fine but once i found the sensors the one looked fine the other looked like it split in half. Hope that helps

Temp gauge bouncing up an down

That vehicle has two coolant temp sensors on it, both are on the passengers side of the end of the head, where the thermostat housing is. One has a two wire plug, this one tells your fans to come on the other is one single pin, this one is for your temp gauge. This sensor works off resistance, the higher the resistance the higher the gauge in the car goes. This sensor has probably grounded out and pegged your gauge in the car. Replace that sensor and you should be good to good, not too expensive either. Good luck.

Temp guage rolled over under tach chngd thermo no change. Not overheating. dis con guage @1st reset, now no chng.

this happens to alot of gm cars. the only way to fix it is take off the bezel for the guages and manually turn the needle back. some times you can get a wire in and hook the needle to flip it over. i have had this happen on buicks, pontiacs and chevys. this is the only way i have found to fix it. it may happen again. gm may have an updated instrument panel with a peg to stop it from doing it again.

Temp guage keeps pegging out to high side.....

LOL, dont add to the environmental mess just yet!

have you replaced the sending unit for the gauge? its located usually in the intake manifold somewhere, or on one of the cylinder heads.

If thats not the problem, you may have a wire grounding out behind the dash.

my best advice is to try an aftermarket monitoring gauge with fresh wiring to the sending unit or sensor to check for this problem... hope this helps!

Water temp mal function

Unfortunately No, All of the Guages run straight into the Computer. If you bypass them you will have error codes out the Wazzu and lights on the Dash Constantly. Try a Salvage yard for a Replacement Guage Cluster.
