Okay, so a few days ago my car started having problems with starting. It took me like 10 min of turning the key to get it started.
I have replaced the spark plug wires, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter.
The car has an issue with getting hot when drove through town, because the fan does not turn on.
I had another man say he filled up at the same gas station that I last filled up and is having similar problems with his truck.
My car is turning over more often now that I replaced the above mentioned things, but it still isn't reliable.
I got it started last night and drove it up to the gas station. It sounded like it was running WEAK~when I put it in park I almost wondered if it wasn't going to stop running. It would run & putter & run & putter & run & putter.......sounded like it wasnt getting something it was needing.
The guys at auto zone said they don't know.
I am thinking fuel pump?
It was having problems for a week or two when I accelerate it would kind of stutter....
Or compression was mentioned also------
It turns over---occassionally-----it does at least that-when it wants........
I just moved to NC from FL and have been here with my 4yr old 3 weeks.....my landlord is letting me use her van for work until I can figure this out (sooner the better)---I'm doing the work myself for lack of funds----

My car problem started 3 days ago, it started with my Toyota security light blinking red, then a key like symbol on ...
You didnt list the type of car this is, the most common thing that causes this is the starter, i just had a saturn, the customer had the same problem we told her it may be the starter but cant be 100% sure until it actted up, she didnt want to replace it unless we were sure, so we kept and drove the car around for 5 days and finally the last day it didnt start and it was the starter , same problem turn key and nothing no noise and no start, i would have the starter replaced and go from there, its a mater of time before the car just wont start, hope this is helpful.
u have to reset the PC car
first step .. try to start the car ,, and sure it will not start and the thefth system light will turuned on
soo keep the switch opened until the thefth system light stop .. it will take 10-15 min
switch it off for 10 seconds
again switch it on but without starting the car .. and wait for 10 min "not less than 10 mins,, if little more no problem" .. do the same thing one more time ..
finally switch it off .. wait for 10 seconds and start the car ..
Ok then, from your description and the
make/model/year of the car you have there,
it appears you've reset the VATS.
The car's security immobilizer
reader at the key switch
does not recognize the coded
chip in the ignition key any longer.
You can try to put the key
in the ignition, turn to the on position &
wait at least 10 min like that.
(Do not turn off the key switch before
10 minutes as elapsed!)
Once done, the key is re-programmed and
should allow the fuel injectors to work again.
The car would start now if corrected.
In some cases, the VATS (GM'S VEHICLE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM)
will re learn the code this way, and will then
allow the restart, however if this does not work,
then you can simply tow it to any GM vehicle dealer
to have the service department re code it.
There is a permanent solution though.
Adding the PLJX Self learning Bypass module (59.95)
will bypass the PASSLOCK system in your vehicle
for good. See this at www.PASSLOCK2.com
Good luck I hope method 1 does the trick!
Here is the 30 min relearn:
Ignition keys relearn takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn
Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to
start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not
start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10
minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and
wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a
total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now
ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or
passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK Important:
Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock
Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition
from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to
start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the
Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs
will self clear after 100 ignition cycles. Without a scan tool you may
have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself.
you can test your signal wire to the starter by having someone turn the key to start while you put a test light on the signal wire at the stater. If there is no signal on the light then there is a problem with the sending wire from the ignition.
If the car starts and dies right away you may have a pass key sensor fault.
Try to start the car,if the car dies right away just leave the key on and watch the security light in the insturment panel,if it begins to blink leave the key on until it stops blinking (apx 10 mins.) this will reprogram the pass lock to the pcm and may solve all your problems.if the car continues to die after running a min or so then you may have other faults,or if the car dies right after start the pass lock sensor may need to be replaced.
