Question about 1999 Ford Windstar

A?C does not work

It's a 96 windstar, the ac worked fine in the past, now it doesn't. I checked freon level, pressure switch, It's fine.
I have no activation of the compressor, I was a class A tech years back, and I haven't done this type of work in awhile, normally I would check the electrical diagrams but I have no manuals on hand to do so, can you assist. thanks

Ford uses a relay system for the compressor clutch, have someone turn the a/c on while u listen for the relay to click. If you can hear it click check the compressor clutch wire (2 wire plug) to make sure it actually has power. the 6 and 10 series compressors that Ford uses are known to just fail all at once.

My AC stopped working. I can see that the compressor clutch is not engaging. My Freon pressure was very low so I added to the proper level. But still doesn't work.

I need year--make--model?
You removed the fuse and used paper clip in the fuse socket? I'm just trying to understand what you did with paper clip?

How jetta compressor clutch work

Ac compressor clutches get power from a relay via pressure switches.
If the system is low on freon, the low pressure switch prevents the ac clutch from engaging.
The clutch is a magnet.

Nothing happens when the ac switch is turned on, no cold air, clutch doesn't engage

Check fuses and AC relay, check system pressures with AC manifold gauges to determine system charge capacity. If it is below sensor limit on freon, the comp. clutch will not kick in. I hope this helps.

1996 Dodge Dakota 2.5 , AC runs fine if I connect compressor directly from battery, is there a way to test the AC switch?

if the compressor only works when directly feed power from the battery it sounds like the a/c system may be low on freon causing the system to shut down until its could also be a pressure switch in the system,it should be checked out at a shop for proper freon level and pressure to know what needs repair instead of guessing.

Ac compressor goes off and on

You either have a faulty Low Pressure Cut-Off Switch, or you are low on Freon. Have you freon checked, if the freon level is fine replace the Low Pressure Cut-Off Switch.

Hi..I have 90 Celica GT model and I came to Autozone to pickup can of Freon to recharge my ac.. Autozone guy came out to check make sure compressor was working when I push the AC button. It was working...

Did you put freon in the car? If you did, and you have too much, there is a "high-pressure" cut off switch, and there is also a "low-pressure" cut off switch. So, if the freon is too little or too much, the AC is prevented from engaging. The best thing to do is take it to a guy who has freon pressure gauges; this is the only way to tell if the charge is correct or not.

96 Honda Accord LX 4 cyl - ac goes on/off every 15 seconds

when the compressor cycles fast that usually means that its low on freon.use approved gauges to get good pressure readings.

AC Won't Work

probably low on freon R134A. Buy a can with a gauge on it. Addd to the low pressure port in engine compartment on passenger side, low pressure hose. If the compressor starts working, then you are low. Do not overfill or you will damage compressor. The gauge should have a "good" zone on it, stay in the god zone. If it starts cycling very fast, it is still low.
It should cycle 4 to 7 times/minute at 70 degrees F.

report back on progress.
Please rate as fixed if this helps.
