turned the key to start car and heard loud click/ noise. waited and tried again, then same clicking and humming sound and door locks went up and down, up and down repetitively and the lights on the dash flashed and the CD changer continuously chaged CDs. It was like the car was suddenly possessed!!! tried removing positive cable from battery and reconnecting it to see if it was a computer problem that needed to be restarted. upon reconnecting the cable, no further crazy lock movement or CD changer movement. However, car still won't start and still makes the clicking sound, but engine won't turn over.

Hi Moyerwm, Disconnect the battery for about two minutes and reconnect. If that does not help, have the battery fully charged and then it should be fine. Regards John

My car does not turn over

Is your battery fully charged? (do any lights work.) If so, do you hear a loud-ish 'click' when you turn the key to start it? If so, check to make sure your battery cables are connected tightly. You may also change your starter solinoid if need be.

I have power but my 1990 ford ranger clicks loudly and wont turn

Starter could be stuck..
If you are SURE you battery is fully charged with no dead cells..
Try --
(takes 2 peopl) -
Turn the key like you are trying to start it.
At the SAME time - smack the starter with a small hammer not too too hard..
Let me know what happens..

1995 ford f150 makes single loud click when trying to start

Does it make the loud click just once, or will it continue to click when you turn the key?
If it is just once, then there is still a bad connection someplace for the main power. If it continues to click every time you turn the key to "start", then it is probably the starter solenoid itself that is bad. There are two big terminals (bolts) on the solenoid, and if you connect a 12V test light or meter across them, you should see power there. If the light doesn't go out (or very dim) when you turn the ign. to 'start', then the solenoid is bad. If the light goes out and the starter doesn't turn, then there is something wrong with the starter. I suspect the solenoid also because it works better with a strong charge on the battery.

Lady with a 1999 4Runner cannot start car after...

Recharge the battery. Or buy a new one. But make sure you have a fully charged battery. What happened was that the battery drained because it probably needs replacement. When the battery drained too low. The ECU deprogramed itself. When installing a new or fully charged battery. Start the car. You may have to remove the negative cable a few times then restart it for the CPU to go into the default settings.
