my 2001 cavalier ran out of gas, and now it wont start after putting gas in the tank. the engine cranks but wont start. could it be the pump?

You will need to check the fuel pressure. You will have a connection on the fuel line to the motor under the hood. No fuel pressure indicates one of three problems. Fuse in fuse box, relay in relay box under the hood or fuel pump located in fuel tank.
