Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Alero
There is a recall on the alero for this issue. We had the same with our 01 alero and they fixed it under the recall.

I had the same problem. What I did was made sure either the left or right turn signal is on or at least the handle is up or down and push the emergency button for both signals to come on and then push the emergency button again to turn them off. It should be working. If it dont work the first time, the try it again. This worked for me.

It's the flasher unit which is part of and attached to the emergency flasher switch. You need to replace the flasher switch. Cost is about $25 for the part and & $50-60 for labor.

The turn signal relay, which is mounted on the back of the 4-way flasher has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced. Just got ours fixed this morning for under $75.

Turn the hazard light on and off quickly and the turn signal will work again.

Seems your flasher is going out. If i am correct the switch for your hazard lights is also your flasher. One way to find out is when it stops working tap the hazard light switch and see if it starts to work again. If so there is your problem. Hope this helps
