This is not a good thing. A clacking sound on acceleration that gets worse when warm, in other words, when the oil thins out, is often a sign that a wrist pin bushing is worn out. The wrist pin is what connects the piston rod to the piston. With the vehicle in park, give is a couple of snappy revs and see what happens. If it clacks quickly and then dies down every time you do that, it is almost certainly the wrist pin. Now, without hearing it, it is difficult to be sure of the sound. If it is more of a sound like marbles hopping around in your engine, especially with hard acceleration, or going up a steep hill, get your timing checked, and make sure you are getting gasoline with a high enough octane rating for your vehicle. It's always good to go with a higher octane fuel than the recommended one.
