Take off your door caseing you will have to remove things like speakers and armrest and switches if seperate from door caseing and the window motor will be bolted to a mount inside the door. You may need someone with small hands to undo the bolts, and take the wireing loom off the motor first if you can as you don't want to brake a wire to the motor. It is also a good idea that when you do get to the motor removal to prop your glass up with a small piece of timber or something else small so your glass does not drop down to far to make reinstall easier. Your motor is seperate from the toothed arm that makes the window actually go up and down so ubolt it from this inside the door if at all possible as to put this back in can be a pain. Motor mount bolts may even be under the door behind door seal depending on door style.

Driver side window wont go up?

If the other windows work, then it has to be in the driver's switch button, or the driver's window motor has given out, or a wire has come loose from the switch to the motor inside the door. Usually you have to take the door panel off to investigate. Can the switch and it's electrical connector be removed from the door panel? If you can get to that, you can use a couple of jumper wires and test the motor for operation...or noise-if it groans or buzzes or clicks a lot, you will have to remove the door panel to get to it for repair or replacement.
Has a liquid spilled on the driver's switch? That can disable the switch.
The jumper wires (2 paper clips work well) work thus: at the connector you will have a power wire (hot with key on) and a ground wire for the power windows. jumper those two to the two terminals for the driver's window motor, with key on. The window should go one way -either up or down- if you reverse the jumper wires the motor and the window should go the other way. if all works well like that, the motor, window regulator assembly, and the wiring is good, problem is in the switch.

How to remove window moter

I had to change power window regulator for the front driver's side. If you activiate the power window button and hear a sound, the switch is working and probably the motor is working as well and all you need is the regulator which you can buy at 1AAA auto on line. You must remove the door panel to change motor and/or regulator. You must remove two screws behind the door pull strap (pry the two caps out and the screws are behind). There is one screw when you lift up the door rest compartment, two in the door where carpet is and one screw on the upper side of the door when you open it. I have photos that I got online. My e-mail is E-mail me and I will try to find the photos for you.

How to repairdriver side window motor for a 1998

Assuming the window motor runs BUT doesn't move glass.......carefully remove the door trim. unhook electrical connectors, remove water shield plastic, access inside the door and locate motor,( pushing glass up if required) on the inner panel locate #3 DIMPLE marks, this is where the motor bolts are at...use a drill and drill thru slowly (drill for the size of socket you have).....CAUTION: place a block/bar/etc to keep the window from falling down and cutting your arm off when the motor is removed.... Now with the motor out, remove the cover at the gear, clean and remove the plastic gears, there are 3 round inserts (may be broken now) that needs to be replaced..purchase at your local parts store...kragen/napa/etc.... reverse steps to assemble...hope this helps careful...GL
