no. you only need the 15mm/16mm spanner to turn the tensioner handle until you see a hole to lock the handle with a small allen key or something fit inside. (CAUTION: be carefull of the handle will slam backward and broke the stopper. dont release in suddent. ) check your alternator run freely. turn with your hand with the belt off.
You may need bearings in the alternator but i would first try tightening the belt,if that cures the problem you are done.If it does not and a grinding noise starts, then put bearings in the alternator.
You need to make sure you have a good drive belt and verify that the tension is working,if all seems normal then get the alternator or the wiring to it tested.
Need to test the battery ,and the alternator for a discharge .Was a new alternator used or a reconditioned one ?? ignore the lights for the minute because they sound as though the regulator is working ,iam more concerned about the diode pack in the alternator, hence was it a new one or a recon or one from a scrappers
REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT FUSE IN THE FUSE BOX TO ALLOCATE THE RELAY SWITCH ON THE LIGHTS AND WHEN IT IS ON REMOVE THE RELAY ONE BY TO ALLOCATE THE RELAY .REPLACDE THE FAULTY RELAY
