Toyota Land cruiser ABS Failure

Hi,
I have problem with my car, Started my 1999 Land Cruiser the other morning and the ABS
light stayed on and a high-pitched squeel came from the
dash. Brake pedal went to the floor. Dealer just advised
that the ABS Actuator Assembly & Master Cylinder have to
be replaced. Cost: $2,500. Sound familiar? and at master brake they have leak ( brake Oil ) and we change the O ring but we use Vitton O ring Taiwan maker, only 3 month after that be like that again, so do you have any recomend.
Thank you

Yunus ( Jakarta - Indonesia )

What kind brake fluid you use, the best way is to get dealer O ring and use dealer's brake fluid. some brake fluid damaged the rubber.

You do a major job, seems like you are going to re-built it, you have to clean it first and then match the right rubber ring put exactly position, then tighted it. I wish I could help you more.

This kind job is a hard job; usually I just get a rebuilt cylinder from the rebuilt company for our customers. My Union 76 services station did a lot brake jobs, but we didn’t try to rebuilt master cylinders after I rebuilt the first one, because different company use different system, different tools.

I remember when I did the first one, I have to buy a special brake fluid pump to pump the brake fluid through the master cylinder, wheel cylinders and brake lines. I have used that pump for almost 9 years to solve some other brake problems.

I wish you have good luck, but I still think you can make it.

I would check your wire harness. The starter is close to where you would be working on the radiator. I have not had the pleasure to put one in but i know its a tight squeez in there.

Very hot alternator after just replacing and a high pitch squeel

THE ALTERNATOR CAN GO OUT DUE TO A WEAK OR BAD BATTERY CAUSING IT TO OVERCHARGE TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH DEMAND ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IT WILL HAVE A HIGH PITCH NOISE WHILE CHARGING AT A HIGH RATE AND FINALLY IT TO WILL GO BAD.

HAVE THE BATTERY TESTED AND CHECK THE CHARGE RATE AT THE ALTERNATOR AND AT THE BATTERY.

Differetial locks for 94 land cruiser

91-97 Land Cruisers had a factory option for front and rear locking differentials. This is a seperate switch and is usually located to the left of US model Land Cruisers. The center dash button locks your transfer case differential changing your Land Cruiser from all wheel drive to four wheel drive depending if you have ABS or not this button either says ECT or Center Dif Lock. If you do not have the Front/Rear locking differential option then your Land Cruiser has open Front and Rear. Hope this answers your question.
