Question about 1991 Daihatsu Charade

Still missing I have changed the fuel filter as it was pretty blocked, also replaced the injectors and the distributor cap, it runs really good now except when I take off from a start still misses a bit but does not miss at idle any more. I also bought a new battery. only misses when I first take off high rpm are fine and so is idle.

It sounds to me that your distributor is no retarding far enough under acceleration. The early 1.3 HCE engine has a two stage vacuum advance, one hose from the plenum and one hose from throttle body.

Hi there i seems that you have replace alot of components after driving for a few days to let the ecm relearn with the new components . is it still missing at low speed ? seems you may have a spark plug thats not offering up its full potential please isolate what plug is the weak one by removing one spark plug wire from plug at a time to listen to the engine and see what plug is causing miss ok good luck you could replace all but this is an extra expense take a look

I just replaced my intake gaskets and plenum gaskets,new plugs,cap,rotor,wires,refined the distributor. now I have an engine miss fire at low rpm speeds,what could be happening?


you more than likely have a dirty or bad injector in this situation, you can change your fuel filter and run a can of royal purple maxflow fuel system cleaner to a half a tank of gas if it is not too bad this will probably clear it up, if the low rpm miss is still there you need to bring it into a repair center and have a decarbonization done to the engine this will clean the injectors top end of the motor cataletic convertors and pretty much the intire engine

My 95 7.3 turbo runs and idels good no miss but something is holdeing it back when u push the gas I have changed the fule filter and air


Here is what my Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual says for a noticeable lack of power, which is what you are describing.
1. Blocked air intake
2.Incorrectly adjusted timing
3.Blocked or damaged exhaust system
4.Obstruction in fuel filter
5.Blocked fuel tank vacuum vent in fuel cap
6.Insufficient fuel supply from tank to injector pump
7.Obstruction in fuel tank filter
8. Pinched or restricted fuel return line
9. Incorrect or contaminated fuel
10.External compression leaks ( glow plugs or injectors)
11. Obstruction in injector nozzles
12.Low compression
This book has an excellent diagnosis and repair section for your engine. It's Haynes part #10330 and costs about $20. Hope this helps.

Engine stalls out on occasion like the key was shut off have change air flow sencer mapp sencer new vaccum lines


Check your plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, fuel filter, and air filter.

If I had to take a guess, I would try replacing the Distributor Cap & Rotor, as well as the Fuel Filter. Also, try running some Gumout Fuel Injector Cleaner and a tank of good gas through it.

Engine miss,replaced fuel filter,plugs,wiring,cap,rotor,distributor,computer under dash,also coil yhat mounts distributor cap,spark plugs, don't know what else to do!!


Do a compression test and make sure it is not a mechanical problem.Could be burnt valve,bad cam,or broken valve spring.If you know which cylinder is missing pull the valve cover and check the valves and see if they are all moving up and down evenly when you turn the motor over.Just disable the vehicle from starting or you can do it with it running.Hope this helps.Good luck.

2003 Ford Escape won't keep running


2 solutions: first, ignition control module is getting hot and shutting car down. 2nd; you didn't mention your dash(service soon) lights were on.<p>
You said the fuel filter was pretty clogged up. It's sounds like a bad case of EGS(ethanol gas syndrome). The ethanol;being a corn deritive;acts like corn liquor(which is what is is), and turns the fuel to goop, and adds large amounts of water through out all the systems.<p>
It clogs up the fuel lines,the injectors, and ruins fuel pumps. It also puts heavy carbon on egr valves, int. and exh. valves, and can ruin oxy sensors, and catalytic converters.<p>
Let's try the cheapest way first:Buy a can of SEAFOAM and Berkline 2+2 at your parts store. Take out the oxy sensor(s) and clean the ends using the 2+2 and re-install.
Then change out the fuel filter again. Pour the SF into a tank of PREMIUM(only) gas. Change the pcv valve. Then start vehicle and let idle for 3-5 min(even if you have to rev it up to do it to get the SF flowing through the system), and then drive it 10 hard miles.<p>
Replace that fuel filter, and then let it idle some more. Your car sounds like it is really messed up bad. Unless you take it to a garage that has a fuel system cleaner machine, this is the best way to do it.<p>
After this, add SF every 3-5000 miles to your tank. It will prevent this from happening again. Also; to be on the safe side. Have a PSI check on your fuel pump. This goop could have burnt it up. I hope this helps.

Runs & idles rough has no power when cold gets better when warm


Spluttering and missing is usually one of two things Fuel or spark ?
Fuel problems will be traced to 1/ in line fuel filters .. 2/ tank run low on petrol throwing dirt and grit into tank filter ( if Fitted ) and blocked or restricted injectors a good fuel additve sometimes cures that problem , but replacement is a far better option .
Poor spark plugs breaking down under preassure oiled plugs due to overfilling or incorrect fuel mixtures .. poor or cracked distributor caps dirty or damaged rotor arms in said cap .. leaking HT leads damaged by rubbing and contact with hot engine causing sparks to fly to nearest earth disrupting the spark and ignition timing ... hope this helps Regards vortash

Fuel injectors or Distributor Cap?


the blinking CEL light is an indication of a miss-fire, run the code retrival test to find out what cylinder is the one missing, at your miles it could be almost anything from a low compression issue to a bad distributor cap, a fuel injector could be the problem, run the test and get back to me, Kragen and other chain parts stores will test the system for codes for FREE!

Hi,

If your fuel filter was considerably blocked with debris, sand of foreign material, then it is highly possible that your fuel pump would also require looking over (check/replace). In most instances, there is a strainer (a filter of sort) incorporated into the pump. Should you decide to do this, it may also help if you add "fuel injector cleaner" to your tank so as to clean the other fuel lines.

Engine still missing


I am very happy that I can help you, check the vacuum hose, maybe the vacuum is leaking. Vacuum hose is a 1/4" hose.
