5th gear keeps coming out

Hello There. I drive a 2000 Hyundai Accent Manual 5 speed. For the past month or so, everytime I drive for more than about 20-25 mins in 5th gear, the stick comes out of gear. It doesn't do it with any of the other gears, just 5th. I can't even go out of town anymore cause I either end up having to hold it in gear or just put it in 4th, neither of which I think is good. Please HELP!!!

sounds like a 5th gear synchronizer is going out you might have to have your transmission rebuilt hate being the bearer of bad news but that's what it sounds like hope this helps

2,500 to 3,000 on a 12 yr old car. Newer vehicles with 6-9 speed auto transmissions sometimes run as low as 2,200. But your gearing is your gearing. Can't change that now.

if you used the car with a bad cluth you may have damaged the syncromesh, it nearly always happens in 3rd gear. Sounds like the fault, the syncromesh is part of the gearbox and most often cannot be fixed without a new gearbox.

sometimes loss of power can be caused by a clogged catalytic converter which can make the car at times hesitate, and about the trasmission maybe the governor on it might be faulty what that does it changes the gears when it reaches certain speed

with driving with the check engine light flashing u may have done damage too the catiltic converter check that when u reve the engine there is alot of exhaust flow it should push your hand from the tail pipe (be carefull exhaust will be hot)
It would be helpful if u could list the codes you can buy a code reader from any automotive parts store relitvly cheap
