I had same problem on 3/3/09, truck will start up if fuel was added to throttle. founded low pressure on fuel pump at 20 psi and you need about 45 psi to run properly.
And once you replaced you fuel ones, you will need to check fuel pressure evry time you start getting ploblems .
some other problems went not starting, are starter or ing hot wire to the starter have this wire replace.

-   Same vehicle. New pump, filter, dist. cap and rotor. no fuel going to EFI. Fuel relay is clicking in and fuel pumps through the new filter. Truck will fire when gas is poured into the air intake. Is it a sensor or the mass air valve? -   Guest

Had the same problem with my '96 Silverado with 350 Vortec. The truck would only crank. It would start if fuel was poured down the throttle body. Could not hear the fuel pump hum. Fuse was good, but could not hear relay click. Relay was good, Did some electrical wiring trouble shooting. Turned out that one of the connectors that clasp onto one of the pins of the fuel pump relay wasn't making a good connection, too loose. I just stuck a peice of wire into the connector and pushed the relay back in. Relay clicked, Truck Started. It's been more than 4 yrs. since I made that McGuyver fix. Still firing.

1998 z71 5.7 350
will not start, It just turns over. I've already changed the fuel pump and the wiring harness(d1414d) inside the steering column. The fuel pump does NOT hum when the key is turned on. The old pump wasn't humming either. I have checked everything I know which isn't much. All the fuses look good. HELP, I can afford to keep sinking money into it on stuff that isn't helping. Thanks, Dave
