Hi,

Based on your description, could be anything:

  • throttle control (including A/C compensator);
  • auto choke;
  • engine management;
  • auto cruise (if your model has one)
A couple of clarifying questions:
  1. What is your standard set idling RPM, 1000? with or without A/C?
  2. Automatic or conventional/manual trnasmission?
  3. When was the last major tune-up? What parts were replaced?
  4. Does it sound like misfiring also?
  5. Any other indicators, hard starting, long warmup, stalling, excessive gas consumption, smarting to the eyes exhaust fumes?
  6. Does your battery light lits up?
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

    Hi again,

    Appreciate the "Ask Me". With your indulgence, I would repost this on your problem here.

    Offhand, I am tempted to think that there is nothing wrong with the car except that the on board computer is learning "new driver's habit". Might you want to try and reset the computer, simply remove the negative terminal of the battery for a couple of minutes. A warning though, some car stereos have built-in security protection and would ask for a code when the battery is removed. Pls have this code ready as well as the means of inputting them back in.

    If this does not prove to be corrective, then the correct procedure for diagnosis would be to have your car's computer scanned and the error codes interpreted. The error codes would reveal the "probable" cause of your problem(s). Often, the codes would point to a sensor that is either acting up or is falsely triggered. Thereafter check/corrective action/replacement of the pinpointed fault should resolve your issue. This would be more to your advantage rather than trying out several possibilities.

    If for some reason you want an immediate try, foremost to check would be the stepper motor (throttle control ). You could also try spraying the throttle assy/housing with a carb/injector cleaner.

    Hope this be of additional help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

    Good luck and kind regards.

Loses the power and starts stalling

The IAC valve requires resetting .
First locate the IAC valve located on the side of the throttle body and has 4 wires going to it .Procedure is as follows
Ignition key on ,unplug the IAC ,turn key off ,reconnect the IAC .do this 3-4 times .restart the car and hold the rpm at 2000 rpm and slowly lower until it idles by it self .

Car stalling intermitatly

This problem has probably been solve by now but I will still give a possible solution to ones who have the same problem ,it happens regularly on most Daewoo models,I have had 4 different models my current one a Lanos. The problem is usually located with removing the stepper motor or another name for it is the idle control valve.they cannot be fixed but replaced.what happens , you have irregular idle or your engine sticks at 2000 to 3000 rpm.They are easy to remove and replace but they have got be set at the engine specifications.another reason for stalling problems could be to do with the thermostat is faulty or missing ,sounds strange but because todays cars are mostly run by computer it affects many of the systems , I hope this is helpful.
