I have a 2002 that my wife drove the other day that won't start.
The battery is good, lights, radio, etc all work but nothing happens when key is rotated to the start position (not even a relay click).

Perhaps the neutral safety switch has failed. Is the car in park or neutral ?

I would look to see if the anti-theft light is on next to the door lock. A 95 cabrio did this when I was test driving it. All we did was get out of the vehicle and manual lock and unlock the car, then it went away. This could definitely be more complicated than this, but always worth a try.

Vw cabrio troubleshooting

Hi, there are a few possible faults that i can think of: the first could be that the battery may be low and does not crank the motor. The second could be that the starter needs attention.(you do not say whether any ignition lights come on) When the key is turned and the motor does not crank, the ignition, battery or the starter could be faulty. I would suggest you start with the battery then test the starter, if the battery is good and the starter is okay then check the ignition. All the best.

1999 vw passat turbo wont crank or turn lights on

- Switch on the head lamps for 5 minutes.
- Keeping the head lamps ON, start the engine.
If the lights die,
- Check the battery terminals.
- Check battery state of charge.
- Charging system.
If the lights still glow sharply,
- Check fuses and relays in under the hood fuse and relay box junction.
- Battery to starter motor cable.
- Battery to engine ground and chassis ground cable.
- Solenoid on starter motor.
- Starter motor.
- Wiring.
-Ignition switch.

2001 vw cabrio runs abnsouloutly great until i changhed one of the bateery in one keys and both keys will not start the cat. but my mechanic tellin me its the coil. but i know if the magnet in the key is...

the key battery is only for the unlocking the doors part has nothing to do with engine starting its just a coincidence this happened at the same time i believe something else is your problem.it could be the coil or even the crank sensor but if your machanic knows your car then go with it if its not that. you should not have to pay for it.

Are there any main fuses on a 2001 plymouth neon

Have you checked the starter solenoid. Your battery + cable connects to this then + cable runs from it to your starter. You also have an ignition switch wire connected to this. Just follow your cable from the battery and it will lead you right to the part. Some times these will break inside or the contacts go bad inside and therefore you will not get power to start the engine, but you will have power to turn on lights or whatever other accessories. The part is about $15
