Check your lines coming out of the compressor. If it looks wet, than you have a leak.Very common for those lines to leak, especially at compressor. A sa matter of fact Nissan has a TSB for a/c line leak at the compressor. Look at them to see if they look wet. Do you have gauges?? by any chance??

OK..., You have idea how to check if the SYSTEM is full on freon..

If yes. is the first step that you have to do.

If need freon you charge as need.

After that. I need to you see . if when you turn on the a/c

The light for the a/c botton is on.

If yes, you need a TEST light to check if there a POWER 12v.

In the wire of the compressor clutch.

If yes. The clucth compressor is Not good.

    But if not.

The common problem for this kind of vehicle is.

THE THERMISTOR... " is a electronic thermostat"

The thermistor cycle the compressor OFF and ON.

Depend of the temperature inside of the vehicle.

But when it come damaged the compressor will not work.

Only some times in a short periodes.

if you can get the car checked for an autorepair shop. is good IDEA. But I work on cars every day and I know what I'm say.

The thermistor you can get in the dealer. it's cost about $ 40.

OK.... I hope this information work for you..

    Thank you for use fixya.

    Anything letme know.

The thermistor is located INSIDE of the EVAPORATOR.

At the passanger side. ON a/c evaporator housing.

2003 PT Cruiser: why when I am in Drive and I turn on the A/C the engine shakes?

possibly excessive gas in the ac system is making it hard to turn the ac compressor---possible ac compressor failure---possible that the idle speed falls too low when the ac is switched on because the idle speed is not being compensated for the extra load of the ac compressor.

AC compressor is turning on and off when it isn't even on

Your ac compressor will run if you have it on defrost. This remove the moisture in the air

Engine dies as soon as I turn on the air or heat.

If by heat you mean defrost, it could be a seized AC compressor or compressor clutch, since the AC compressor is also engaged when in defrost mode to remove moisture from the air.

Try turning the flat, round plate on the front of the AC compressor by hand (WITH THE ENGINE OFF!!) If turns with only a little resistance, the compressor is most likely NOT your problem. If it not turnable by hand, then your compressor is seized up will most likely need replaced.

When i turn on the a/c,the compressor does not work

CHECK REFRIGERANT CHARGE. USING A MANIFOLD GAUGE SET. HOOK MANIFOLD GAUGE SET TO LOW PRESSURE PORT AND HIGH PRESSURE SIDE PORT. LOW SIDE PRESSURE SIDE SHOULD HAVE 25 - 36 PSI AND HIGH PRESSURE SIDE SHOULD BE 178 - 237 PSI. IF LOW SIDE PRESSURE SIDE READ BELOW 20 PSI THE LOW PRESSURE SWITCH WILL NOT TURN ON THE AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH NEED TO ADD LITTLE MORE REFRIGERANT. IF REFRIGERANT LEVEL CORRECT CHECK AC COMPRESSOR FUSE AND RELAY.IF POWER GOING TO AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH YOUR COMPRESSOR CLUTCH HAS OPEN WINDING. AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH NEED REPLACING.

Compressor not coming on check red wire on compressor with test light compressor comes on pressure good high and low air cold

If the compressor came on when you were testing it with a test light, it sounds like something is wrong with your ground for your compressor, and completely the circuit through your test light.

I have a 1999 Grand Voyager. Whenever it rains, the serpentine belt comes off. What's the problem and solution?

Ok..that is a strange one.. I am going to hazard a guess and suggest you look to the AC compressor.

When you run the defroster the ac compressor comes on..typically whenever the outside temp is above 40 degrees.. the ac compressor kicks in to dry out air inside.

Often when it rains.. the windows fog.. you turn on the defrost.. the ac compressor tries to come on.. and.. there ya go.. rather there your serpentine belt goes.

Several things could cause this.. worn belt.. failing belt tension-er... or failing ac compressor..

If the ac compressor is frozen meaing it will not turn..when the electric clutch on the front engages.. it would cause the pulley to stop turning.. and the belt would have a hard time staying on a non rotating part.

Or if the belt tension-er is bad..or the belt is worn.. when the additional load of the compressor kicks in.. it jumps off.

Finally it could be a combination of all three..

Best of luck..

How much compressor oil do I add when changing the ac compressor on a 04 expedition with front and rear ac?

When replacing the compressor the dryer should also be replaced, you put 2oz of oil in compressor and stand compressor on pulley for 5 min, then after install turn clutch 10 turns to pump most oil out of compressor, the dryer should have 2 oz of oil also, if you are flushing the ac system out with a solvent then more oil is needed for the system, if your just replacing the compressor then 2oz in compressor.

Air compressor wont come on to to put in 134a

The AC compressor does not have to be running to charge the AC system, and the low pressure switch will even prevent the AC compressor from operating until there is sufficient pressure to operate the AC compressor without damaging it.

Start the engine and turn on the AC, then charge the system with the R-134a and as soon as there is enough pressure built up to trip the low pressure switch off, the AC compressor clutch should then engage and then finish charging the AC system.
