check the condition of the harmonic balancer on the crank shaft. check the crank pulley nut is tight and the pulley is not moving on the crank shaft. Check for worn timing chains or out of adjustment chain tensioners.

Replaced crank shaft ticking noise

There are a lot of steps involved in replacing a crank shaft where a simple mistake can cause problems. The bolts and end caps need to go back in the exact same position and direction facing the front. The crank needs to be stored upright or it can be damaged simply by its own weight while lying down. The bearings need to be the correct size and installed in the proper position lining oil holes up and greased properly. The bolts need to be torqued in the proper sequence and to the correct torque. The Crank then needs to be tapped with a hammer and torqued again.

Sounds like something was missed if your getting a bottom end engine noise now.

Engine knock noise evident when idling, noise disappears with clutch depressed. what could this be? throw-out bearing of clutch (new clutch put in car 9 months ago) crank shaft?

If it goes away when you depress the clutch it is most probably the throw out bearing-if it were related to the crank or rear main bearing you would hear it all the time.

Bottem pulley on engine block is making noise, I think the bearings are going out. What is this pulley attached to and can it be lubricated?

the bottom pulley is the crank pulley. It is attached to the crank shaft. It has two parts, an inner and an outer that are joined together with a rubber isolator. Over time the rubber breaks down and the inner part part of the puller will start to rotate independently from the outer part of the pulley creating a unigue clacking noise.

To solve this you'll need a standard crank pulley puller set. You'll remove the crank bolt and then use the pulley puller to pull the crank pulley off of the crank shaft. The install the new pulley making sure to torque the crank pulley bolt to the proper spec.

1999 MAZDA MILENIA MAKES LOUD NOISE WHEN KEY IS TURNED OFF

Could be the crank shaft. Had the same thing happen to me... kinda sounds like a spoon in the blender? Looking at $400 for part and labor if nothing else has been damaged. But if the crank shaft goes, your looking at another $20 for the belt too. Not too bad. Shouldn't keep letting it do that, eventually it'll snap off completely and your car won't go anywhere.
