Engine sputters and loses power going up hills. Engine has now started shutting off at stop lights. Check engine light is on. Recently had injectors cleaned, but no tune-up
Check engine light is frequently a loose fuel cap, but the other problem could be a bad fuel pump, or a clogged fuel filter. Try the fuel filter first - its the cheapest.

Engine sputters upon acceleration 2002 Ford Taurus SE. Changed Fuel Filter no difference. Fuel Pump?
What causes the engine to sputter, then shut-off when starting it? Afterwards, it works fine.
when going up hill my edge sputters. I have tried fuel cleaner and fuel injector cleaner thinking it was a fuel problem. neither one of them worked. any ideas?
