For a swap between 2 BMWs of the same style, such as 2 E36's, all that is needed is the engine components. The transmission only has to match the clutch. But a transmission off a 318 will bolt up to a m3 of the same style.

Has to b the battery,if you changed the alternator then the batter isnt supplying any power to your sensors and computer. if your battery is weak the car might run at idle, but as soon as your drive your useing more draw. swap out a battery from a friend and you should b good.
The base engine should be the same in both. What you need to look at is to make sure that the sensors are in the same places and that the sensor plug connections match (some use different pins and different shape plug connectors). The only other item that may not be usable is the exhaust manifold. Your best source of swap information is your local scrapyard...it's their business and they have interchange books that tell them exactly what fits into what. To do that though you need to know what year engines you have.
There will be issues. The 3.5 for 2000, 2001, and 2002 are interchangeable, but not the 1999. You could also use 3.5 out of and 2001 or 2002 Aurora. This information is from the Hollander interchange catalog (it's one of the sources that salvage yards use for compability).
you will need some help , but unplug the horn and then depress the horn inside the car and you will be hable to hear a clicking noise, either inside the car or in the engine comparment, have some one locate the noise while you keep depresing the horn on and of to get it ti click on/off
and other thing there is many cars with only one horn make sure to try contacting the dealer and ask for service department and ask for it, you should be hable to do it by phone using yellow pages, or getting the phone number at by calling 411
also when you locate the clicking noise thats the horn relay
i will apreciate the feedback thank you
