Popping back through the intake is a valve problem, stuck or burnt valve or valve seat, most likely it is the valve seat.

Start problem poping back though intake now want turn over

Popping in the intake can be caused by a number of things:
  1. Lean fuel mixture [can be anything in the fuel system]
  2. Faulty ignition [from the battery to the ignition switch and everything in between to the spark plugs]
  3. Valve timing off [like a timing belt or chain slipped a notch] including bent valves from the timing having slipped
  4. Valve adjustment
  5. Flat cam; lobe(s) worn so that the exhaust valve isn't opening
  6. Crank position sensor
  7. EGR stuck open

What is wrong when the manifold valve isnt closing?

manifold valve. Intake or exhaust. i guess intake.
where are you exactly ,
the 2009 , which engine?
the intake on some engines have many valves.
intake runner.
main throttle is an air valve.
VSV valves , for EVAP system, that too is an intake valve.

why not post symptoms
and if you see a valve acting funny, send a photo or tell
exactly it connection, locations.
or login to alldata.com and just look.

Engine poping back

May be a sign of an air-leak into the intake manifold or possibly mis-set ignition setting/s.

I have a Dodge ram 1500 2005 4.7 that is popping through the throttle body

The first thing i would do would be a compression test, this test will tell you if theres a dead or weak cylinder, the poping can be caused by a bad valve , if theres a bad valve which would be an intake valve the compression test will tell you which one. if the compression is good in all cylinders then it could be a crossed sparkplug wire but if this engine uses the coil on plug ignition then that rules that out but if it uses sparkplug wires then it may be a crossed one, start with the compression test , this will tell you if its a valve problem and which cylinder it is, from there you will need to frist make sure its a brunt valve or if its stuck due to carbon build up. again start with the test first and we will go from there. good day.

I have a 1998 gmc 4x4 that code 1404 has poped up and i would like to know what it means and what to do to fix it

EGR Valve Closed pintle Position This valve is located on the intake manifold near the carb (behind I think) It looks like a flying saucer on its side with a six sided raised portion and a vacuum line going into it. If you push on the valve diaphragm (side opposite the raised portion I mentioned earlier) it should move in and out without too much effort. Be sure the engine is cold to prevent burns. If the valve is stuck - replace it. There also may be a filter in on a bracket near the valve if your vehicle is equiped with an electronic VRV (Vaccum Regulator Valve) Hope this helps. Let me know. Thanks

do you hear a pop pop poping under heavy acceleration or just one big back fireing when first accelerating? it could be an intake valve pop pop poping, and electrical,on the big bafireing under lite to med load. A cracked,or worn cap and rotor, weak coil wire, dirty carbruator, faulty accelerator pump in carb bad vacumn advance !slow ignition timing. BAD points and condenser if equiped on older model with carb.

Your egr.valve may not be functioning good chanse its got carbon build up, or there is no vacume to it, remove it and clean it with carb cleaner, both the valve and the intake.
