I have the same problem on 2006 ram diesel. Funny thing is, I had this replaced when my truck was under warranty about a year ago. Just the other day i took my truck to a diff. dealer to have my windows checked out because they werent working properly. The dealer fixed my windows by replacing the main door switch. When i drove out of the dealer my AC was making all kind of noise. They purpesly broke this part, not knowing i aready had it replaced with the new part at a diff. dealer. ANy suggestions???? makdiesel@gmail.com

Tip

Toyota Air Conditioners

This tip pertains to maximizing the cooling efficiency from your Toyota's Air Conditioning system.

(The info that follows is for vehicles that are not equipped with "Auto" AC.)

On really warm days, nothing is better than getting in a hot vehicle, and turning on the AC for a nice comfortable driving experience.

In our service facility, we continually see customers who are not totally satisfied with their AC output. Hopefully, this tip will address those issues, and just might be useful to you.

The number one reason for poor cooling with the AC on, is neglecting to select the "Recirculate" function on the heater/AC control panel.

What is Recirculate?
That mode is where the AC system 'recirculates' the air contained in the car, thru the AC box, over and over, until the desired temperature is reached. The Recirculate button, knob, lever or slide is easily identified by seeing a picture of a little car, with an arrow doing a 'U-Turn" inside the car. This is the opposite of the "Fresh" mode, which is an arrow going 'straight through' the little car icon.

If you are using the "Fresh" mode, you are actually admitting ambient air into the car. Ambient air is much warmer, and makes the AC work harder, and you will see a 10 degree rise in the air temperature from the dash vents. Also, some vehicles admit the 'Fresh' air from under the hood, so, leaving the 'Fresh' mode selected could actually draw in the much hotter underhood air into the AC system.

So, what to do? Anytime you use the AC, please verify that the Recirculate function has been selected. As stated above, this uses the air in the car over and over, and your cooling efficiency will be 10 degrees colder. You can easily check and verify this with an 'instant-read' thermometer. Put the thermometer in the center dash vent, start up the car, turn on the AC, select Recirculate, and watch the temperature drop. It should stop dropping around 34-36 degrees F (depending on humidity, sun load, and a few other things). Now, when the temperature is as low as it will reach, turn off the Recirculate device. You will see the temperature actually rise, maybe 10-12 degrees.

Some additional info: As long as the car is in Recirculate mode, the AC compressor will eventually turn off, when the interior makes the selected temperature. This saves you gas. If you run the AC with the fresh mode selected, the AC compressor runs all of the time. This wastes gas, and costs you more money.

The best way I can easily sum up Fresh versus Recirculate is this:

Running the car with 'Fresh' selected is like running your refrigerator with the door open. It works, but it does not work good. Choosing 'Recirculate' is like running the fridge with the door closed.
If this tip helps you, please leave a positive helpful rating. Thanks!

2000 Buick LeSabre A/C blows hot out drivers vents and cold out passenger vents history codes are BO179output air temp sensor 2 short to ground or open,,BO234 Air mix door 1 range error,,,BO237 air mix...

Depending on the model, normally there is a door at the center of the air duct for the AC. It should be found underneath the dashboard at the center. Normally when the motor of the door is faulty you would not get the correct mix or will not get a constant air temp blowing on the two sides. Have the motor checked out. The other scenario is the thermostat or the temp sensor found near the same location towards the evaporator or the part where you can see the coils if you remove all the cover. Inspect the wiring to that part make sure that there is no exposed wire or loose wire. Either there is an issue with the wiring or the thermostat has gone bad. A bad thermostat would mean no signal to the AC which activates the door to send the correct air temp.

My 1992 corvette does not blow hot air. I can control air flow.

Is the inlet and outlet heater hoses hot and if so you have a seperate acuator for your hot/cold door.Check for vacuum there if you have vacuum to the acuator then it must be a faulty acuator or jambed door.

When i press the ac button it blinks three times but does not turn on. 2007 Tahoe LT

If your vehicle is equipped with automatic climate control, this should help.

Recirculation Operation
The HVAC control module controls the air intake through the recirculation actuator. The recirculation switch closes the recirculation door in order to circulate the air within the vehicle. The outside air switch opens the recirculation door in order to route outside air into the vehicle. Regardless of the blower motor switch position, recirculation is available only in the panel and bi-level mode switch positions. Including the OFF position. The mode switch must be placed in either the panel or bi-level position before the blower motor switch is placed in the OFF position. In order to reduce windshield fogging, outside air is circulated when the mode switch is in the defrost or defog positions. If the recirculation switch is pressed into the ON position when the mode switch is in an unavailable mode position, then the recirculation switch LED will flash 3 times. If the HVAC control module detects a fault with the recirc door the HVAC control module will try to drive the actuator for a predetermined amount of time, to outside air, which is the defaulted position for the recirculation actuator
