new battery, wires seem ok, turn key hear just fuel pump but just a click, no starter. After two or three turns the starter finally engages and will start. More of a problem when its cold outside. Last time I had the problem there was a grinding sound after the car started. Tapped the starter with a hammer, it went away. Is this a bad starter or could it be something electronic.

I to have this no start problem. The lights are good volts to the starter, ground wire is a little green but it does cross with volt meter. There is a bad connection somewhere. Altenator wire needs a liitle attention but should not affect the starting issue. HELP PLEASE. Thank you Kevin

SOURCE: car needs a jump to start but the lights and all

You probably need a new battery, have alternator and battery checked.

I have a 2001 mitsubishi montero limited 3.5. When I put key in it beeps. When I turn it to start the dash lights go out and it will not start. Might this be relay or computer? Fuses are all good.

I have experienced this several dozen times in the last 50 years. I suggest you start with the battery. You will need to be positive it is fully charged, and that the terminals are very clean and making really good connection.
You might even try to jump start to no avail, if there is corrosion on the terminals. Have that battery checked to be certain it is still good, and then the terminals. If all of that is good, I would suggest you have the starter and solenoid checked for "good".
God bless your efforts.

It won't start up and when i turn the key, it makes no noise, just all the lights turn up on the dashboard!! I need tips how to fix it!

It sounds as if the battery is almost without a charge. The lights will work in this case but there is not enough power to turn the starter. Can you obtain a jump from another car? If the battery is too low, the jump might not work. Remove the battery abd have it tested at Autozone or another auto parts store.

2000 wont start just makes a single click when you turn the key. all lights, radio, windows.. work

First try to jump start. This helps us troubleshoot. If the car will jump start, we suspect the battery terminals are loose or need cleaning. If it will not jump start, then we check the starter, fuse/relay, and ignition switch.

Please see my tip at and let me know if you have questions.

Batterie died after trying to jump start it my car was dead i plugged it in to charge i turn the key and the lights work the car wont even click over when turned ignition to start

Make sure you have the car properly in Park with lights off and try. If there's no clicking you either have a very loose terminal on the battery or the battery is no where near charged up enough. Try to jump start with someone wiggling the wires for the jumper cables. Once it starts clicking, leave the wires alone and let the battery accept a charge about 10 minutes while the other car is hooked up and then try again.

It will not turn over unless i get a jump, then when i cut it off i need another jump.

SInce your vehicle starts with a jump, you must have a problem with either your vehicle's battery or connections to it. Most local auto parts stores will test your battery for free, as well as checking to see if your charging system is working too. Make sure that there is nothing in your car left on, such as a dome light or similar that might be draining your car battery too.

Won't start. Lights and accessories work fine. I think it's the starter, just need confirmation.

wots happening does the car just click when you turn the key if so make sure the battery isnt flat, as it might have enough power to operate the lights etc but not to start, if ok try jump starting the car in 2nd gear and if it is the statrer at fault the car will start with a jump. regards

2005 nissan altima won't start, clicking noise is heard

It sounds like your battery is dead. You may be able to fix this with a jump start if you left your lights on over night. If a good jump does not work it may be your starter. but you should start with the simple and cheap solution first. Try having someone jump start your car.
