    I own a 2001 Ford Windstar and recently the driver's side window will not go up or down. If attempted and it does go down, it will not go up till another chance of luck with the switch makes it go up. I hear a clicking from under the dash and have voltage going to the motor. Any clues?

    I have the same problem. I can hear the relay but it takes a notion to work when it wants to. The problem started with the passenger window not working. I notice that the interior lights dim when I try the passenger side. Not sure if it's related to the drivers side problem.

    Driver side makes clicking sound but will not go down. All other windows work.

    I have a Ford Windstar 95 and the power windows will not go down and also i hear the click sound coming from under the dash, sometimes works sometimes don't, somebody have a clue how can this be fixed ??

I had this problem on our 1998 Windstar. It seems the motor and window regulator get in a bind. I removed the motor, ran it while it was off the door and reinstalled it. This works for awhile but the problem comes back andyou have to repeat the repair.

The power window system will operate anytime the retained accessory power (RAP) system is active or when the ignition switch is in the ACCY or ON position.
The DDM contains 4 power window switches which are integral components. Closing any of the normally open, rocker type switches provides the DDM with a request for power window operation. The switches for the 2 front windows have 3 positions Up, Down and Express Down, while the switches for the rear windows have only 2 positions, Up and Down. Each of these switches and their positions is a direct input into the DDM. Upon receiving a request for power window operation, the DDM, transmits a class 2 message indicating the switch and it's changed position.
The PDM contains a single power window switch that is an integral component. Closing of this normally open, rocker switch provides the PDM with a request for the front passenger power window operation. The switch for the front passenger window has 2 positions Up and Down. Each of these switch positions is a direct input to the PDM.
The 2 rear passenger doors have there own switches. Each of the switches contain a power window up and down relay. A switch activation alone can control the up and down functions of the rear windows. However the BCM, upon receiving a class 2 message from the DDM, can control the set of relays which will activate the rear window motors.

Left Front Power Window Switch
The battery voltage is applied from the WINDOWS circuit breaker through CKT 42 (RED) to the accessory time delay relay. The accessory time delay relay supplies voltage through CKT 70 (PNK) to the left front power window switch under the following conditions:

The ignition is in the RUN position.

The retained accessory power (RAP) is active.

When an UP switch on the left front power window switch is operated, the battery voltage is applied to the power window motor. The power window motor is grounded through the DOWN contacts of the left front power window switch to G204. The motor runs in order to drive the power window up. When a DOWN switch in the left front power window switch is operated, the battery voltage is applied to the power window motor in the opposite direction. The power window motor is grounded through the UP contacts in the left front power window switch to G204. The motor runs in order to drive the power window down.

My power seats and only the power windows on right side quit working on my 2007 silverado classic lt1500 I replaced the circuit breakers already and it did not fix the problem


Does you truck have Memory Seats ? There are 2 options of power seat systems available in full size trucks. The first is 6 way driver and passenger power seats without memory. The second is an 8-way driver seat plus 4-way lumbar with memory, heat and optional cool function.
If you replaced the circuit breaker , did you check for B+ voltage at the switch ? If you have memory seats there is a control module that is in the mix.
For the power windows same thing here ,the BCM - body control module is involved .A factory Tech 2 scan tool is still the best tool to use ,checking data parameters .
The switch for the front passenger power window has 2 positions UP and DOWN, and it's position is a direct input into the PDS. Upon receiving a request for power window operation (switch activation), the PDS supplies voltage to the power window motor right front up or down circuit and grounds the opposite and the power window motor runs to drive the window UP or DOWN.
The front passenger power window can also be operated from the driver master control. The front passenger window switch on the driver master control has 2 positions UP and DOWN and it's position is a direct input into the DDS. Upon receiving a request for front passenger power window operation, the DDS transmits a GMLAN message indicating the changed switch position. When the PDS receives this message, the PDS supplies voltage to the power window motor right front up or down circuit and grounds the opposite and the power window motor runs to move the window UP or DOWN.
GMLAN - is a data bus communication network that vehicle modules talk together on.
Rear Passenger Power Window Operation (RPO A31/AN3/DL3)
The body control module (BCM) monitors the window UP/DOWN command from the DDS. When the rear window UP or DOWN command is received, the BCM sends a signal to the appropriate rear window switch. The rear window switches continuously monitor the up and down signal circuits, if no function is being commanded, the signal voltage is at approximately B+ voltage. If the UP or DOWN function is commanded, the BCM signal voltage drops approximately 5 volts and the appropriate rear window switch will then command the window in the UP or DOWN direction.

I need the wiring schematics for driver door panel and all switches in a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. My window won't go down on that side and I'm sure I have a short somewhere because my switch works with all other...


You don't know what your getting into , The door switches have electronic control modules incorporated ,DDM- Driver door module an PDM passenger door module .

The data link connector (DLC) allows a scan tool to communicate with the class 2 serial data line. The serial data line is the means by which the microprocessor-controlled modules in the vehicle communicate with each other. Once the scan tool is connected to the class 2 serial data line through the DLC, the scan tool can be used to monitor each module for diagnostic purposes and to check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Class 2 serial data is transmitted on a single wire at an average of 10.4 kbps.

Every time i start my 98 buick regal ls my drivers window goes down


The only wiring schematic I could find for your car is for the 2000 Buick Regal, but I hope this helps,
since it gave me a reason why starting a car would cause the driver's power window to
go down, and no other window in the car - it has a special circuit component
(the "Express Down Module").

Its possible that the Express Down Module in the power window switch circuit has failed. This
module latches the "Express Down" switch in the "made" state until released by the "Express
Down Module." If the Express Down Module is latching the Express Down switch when it
shouldn't (at power-up) instead of when it should (at the window "down" limit), then the driver's
window would lower when the driver starts the car. The way to tell if this is the problem is to
note how fast the driver's windows goes down - if it goes down ALL THE WAY, then you know
that the "Express Down" circuit is involved (and therefore suspect the Express Down Module).
If the driver's window only lowers part of the way, then the Express Down circuit is exonerated.

The problem is with the window regulator, which the motor attaches to. The regulator has come off the window.

Front windows don't roll down


Yes, the power window switch is often faulty, because there is some sensitive electronic making that "auto rolled down". The 4x-switch is quite expensive, 260EUR =( So, I make some new connection. The faulty electronic is only for front windows, so now I connect wires so that I can use front windows with read window switch. (Rear windows is still working by those 2xback window switch) which is located between seats. Here is the conncection, at one's own risk. That 4x-window switch has 14-pins connector: Connect the back windows wires 8(blue/white), 9(red/black), 1 (grey/blac ), 2 t(green/white) to the ground wire 4 (black). Front windows wires 14(blue)->8 13(white)->9 3(white/violet)->2 7(black/blue)->1 If the manufacturer didn't use that "auto rolled down" function, there is no worries of power windows. Also illumination of 4x-switch goes down quite soon, leds will be better.
