I would have the water pump checked, if that is not it, is water coming out of the tail pipe? If water is coming out of the tail pipe, you may have a head gasket problem. Something else to check is the oil. If it is discolored, then you do have a head gasket problem or worse yet, a cracked head.
the drl run off the headlight bulbs turn on your light hi and low beam and see if they all work i would bet you have a eadlight bulb out which will cause this concern, just replace the bad bulb and it will all work
Sounds like a ground issue to me. I would have the wiring checked for any ground issues. If its getting bad this could cause the flickering as you drive. This is what I ran into a while back. Hope this helps!!
to me it sounds like the alternator is intermittenly cutting out and when they cut out they can do some wierd stuff i'd recommend you letting an automotive electrical shop look at the alternator and test it
Several GM products, including the Chevrolet Impala and Malibu, the Oldsmobile Alero, the Pontiac Grand Prix, and Saturn Ion, have issues with the Security light coming on.This is many times an indication of a failing Body Control Module (BCM).Initially, the Security light will come on then go off, progressing to a constant on light, before the car will refuse to start.Other symptoms may include erratic action of electronics, a clicking sound coming from the glove box, and the air conditioning failing to blow cold air.I recommend a shop that specializes in the electronic systems of vehicles to diagnosis and make the necessary repairs. They should keep the car until they replicate the symptoms described.A new BCM from GM should cost about $230; plan on another $200 for them to diagnose the problem, replace the unit, and program the new unit. The dealers quote between $700 and $1,100 for the same repair. My experience and the experiences I have read on the internet, indicate the new BCM should last only about a year.
I had the same problem some time ago, lights would go on and off, odometer appeared to stop counting at times rpm gauge would work and then not... power steering would off and on work and head lights would blink on and off when in driving light mode (off position).. The fix for me was I had to have the dash computer replaced (about $500). After doing this around 50k miles ago all the gremlins seem to have remained gone.. Hope this helps
