No fuel to engine (plenty of gas in tank) and no spark. Gas guage does not work. Engine turns over. No flashing security light--windows work.

If the cam or crank sensor are bad it will prevent the shutdown relay from sending out power ,,,hence no spark or fuel pressure

How do you fix a suzuki liana when the fuel is not pumping through to motor? Is there a reset butto.n?

no year stated.
posted 3 times. as 3 problems.
no country stated, we dont have these here
ours are called Aerio's
what engine? per list.?????
1.3 L I4; 1.5 L I4; 1.6 L I4; 1.8 L I4; 2.0 L I4; 2.3 L I4; 1.4 L Diesel I4

no there is no reset. its not a ford or isuzu.
how to repair cars dead engine, varies by country and engine
not one stated. here.
here ill make a generic GAS/petrol list for you (lacking country or engine)
1: check the fuses.
2: turn key ,CEL lamp in cluster on? Yes/no.?
yes, good
no fuses blown..
3: look again in the cluster, did the IMMO lamp come on? (some countries the lamp looks like key with a red bar crossing it)
this lamp must not stick on or flash, or IMMO is unhappy. (immoblizers)
4: ok CEL ON, IMMO off, does it crank fast the starter motor? if not say so.
5: good it cranks?
yes, then do you have spark>? on all cylinders?
yes, good, no scan it. OR NO ITS A DIESEL>??>??
6: Ok i got spark (if gas engine)
7: lets say the spark is weak, ever do a tune up?
7b: lets say spark timing is way off. ever replace the cam belt>????
8: spark is good. must be fueling issues.
be advised that if PCM sees spark bad it does cut all fueling by design and laws...
9: now i use test fuel, and it runs.
yes runs. for 3seconds good.
no, see 1 to 8 above or compression is bad.
yes, the check fuel pressure. good?
no fuel pressure is 0 psi
so i check for 11-12v at the pump wires. cranking
you need to crank the engine because 1/2 the cars
made only run pump cranking, and all do running.

1 question ever turn the car up ever
or do the 60k mile or100km service list? "points"

I have a connector comming from the fuse relay center in the bunch of whires that is not connected and is a red wire which i know is a hot wire what do i do? connector is small and black comming out o

confusing, 1990 , CADDY a TOYOTA Escalade?
CHECK ALL FUSES in BOTH FUSE BOXES. first.

all cars have huge options, and one harness.
so vast numbers of connectors are just there. ignore them.
seems... seems in science is no good, we work in absolutes.
or better valid ranges. (as a pilot says, "in the envelope")
ill try to answer both cars, the relic toy and 2000 CAD

we fix cars by diagnosis.
the first is to tell the helper what is wrong.
it dont start. (right?
and you check both fuse boxes, for blown fuses, right?
do you have spark? y/n? on all spark plugs.? y/n
if you have spark does spray in test fuel start engine
even for 3 seconds>? a key test.
yes, then you have low fuel pressure.
no, bad engine. (or you lied about spark , lol)

now fuel pressure.
the ECU can cut fuel and pump if it sees spark go bad
this prevents crash and burn,.like as seen on TV.
connect a scan tool is there DTC 340,355 being thrown cranking 5 seconds. yes, bad crank/cam sensors. or RPM is 0 cranking
bad ckp. senor.

so, rule 2, the ECU, many not, (READ FSM) run pump
until it is cranking
so you check for 12vdc at the pump cranking,
ok i got 12v
i then check fuel pressure with a real gauge.
it see 0psi, bad pump. see 10 psi bad pump or stuck open fuel
40PSI normal there is a range, but ask.
pressure reg. see 65PSI, fuel pressure reg stuck closes or return line blocked.
no guessing ,simple tests tools $80 total.

so does test fuel run engine> do that.
ever do a tune up?
ever check spark plug tips for wet or dry , after a failed crankup?
dry, no fuel. add some.
wet ,flooding.. crank using super secret WOT.

ok a direct quote from the FSM TOY.
  1. Using a jumper wire, short terminals FP and +B of the check connector.<< this is the diagnostic port.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON, but do NOT start the car.
  3. The fuel pressure should read 38-44 psi (265-304 kPa).
  4. If the pressure is too high, the pressure regulator is probably defective. If it is too low, check for the following:
    1. Fuel hoses and connections for leaks or restrictions.
    2. Defective fuel pump.
    3. Clogged fuel filter.
    4. Defective pressure regulator.
now the direct quote for CAD FSM.
what engine,there are many?
rule 1 , 2000
ever scan the ECU/PCM for error cranking or must we do this the hardway.
hard:
key off
pressure gauge on rule rail
not started engine.
60-66 psi is normal. (books shows scan too activate)

the FSM shows the leak down test too, at this port.
it also says using CAD scan tool command on the fuel pump.
says tool only allows 2 seconds run time,
but you can check it cranking or cranking then key
off see how fast 60psi drops.
there are many pump tests. and the leak down rate
and injector leak down test.
all this requires a fuel pressure gauge
and reading the tests on alldata.com or buy the full FSM from CAD.

Im sure the CAD only has pump power (12v) cranking and running
and running it drops about 10psi and rises at high altitude.
they wouldn't need

PUMP operation rules are complex.
this is all hard coded in the PCM brain this logic.
most cars are,
if sparks good, and not W.O.T cranking and cmp and CKP are
happen run pump and inject.
if not , cut fuel.
some cars cut the pump after 2 seconds running, its hard coded logic. if spark is bad.
many mech dont know this. but the only variace ive ever seen is
some cars do make fuel pressure. just key on, for 3 seconds.
mostly older cars.
my guess you posted in the Toyota section?

My car will not start it cranks but will not turn on. So far I have changed the crank sensor I also have no spark to coil packs or spark plugs Fuel pump does not turn on when I turn the key. What is the...

Begin by checking fuses. Ignition, efi, fuel pump fuses. When key turned to on, do the warning lights and gauges work? That verifies switch has power and is sending power out. With key on, the coil primary wire to coil packs should have voltage.

No spark and no gas? Fuel pump fuse good? I think I would use a test light or multimeter to check that fuel pump fuse terminal has power to it with key on. If that's good, pull connector off at fuel tank and check for a voltage signal on fuel pump wire when the engine is cranking-if good signal, fuel pump needs taken out for replacement or inspection. If no signal check that fuel pump relay has power to it. With key off, pull the relay and check that one terminal has power to it-the feed wire for the pump. If no power signal at all, check maxi fuses or fusible links for a failure.

My car cranks but does'nt start, like its not getting gas,

My first question would be, are you sure it is getting spark to the plugs ? ?
A mechanic would check the fuel pressure with a gauge if it does have spark. If no spark you would need to check the coil and crank sensor.

Hi , I have a 96 Lincoln town car and I'm having a problem with it , it cranks and cranks and cranks and I have a had time turning it on and I have changed the fuel pump , fuel filter and its still...

check your spark. If you have spark check your fuel to see if the pump is working. If there's no spark, check your distributor cap. If there's no fuel check your fuel pump relay and also the emergency cutoff switch on the drivers side in the trunk behind the carpet, make sure its pushed in.

The car will turn over it will not crank unless you spray starter fluid in it.you can not hear the fuel pump running when u turn the key on.the gas guage reads that there is a half of tank of gas

Before totally condemning the fuel pump (and I suspect this is your problem), take something like a hub cap hammer (the soft rubber kind) and give the bottom of the fuel tank a couple of sharp raps and then see if it'll start. This will often cause an other wise failed fuel pump to start running for a short while.

Since you didn't indicate Make, Model, Year, and Engine, I'm assuming it's a newer model that has an electric fuel pump submerged in the fuel tank.

An older model can have a mechanical pumped bolted to the side of the engine, and this procedure wouldn't accomplish anything.

2001 Will crank but wont start

Hi , these trucks are notorious for fuel pump issuse. (I have 2 in the shop now).First check for spark if spark is present then we need to check for fuel.if a presure gauge is avail, install the gauge and crank the engine.if presure increases to 50-60 psi fuek is probably not the issue. now if a gauge is not avail you can remove the air cleaner/snorkle assy.spray some carb cleaner in the throttle body, then try to start if (if it starts for a second the problem if fuel.now if it starts go under by the fuel tank, reach up (from the drivers side and unplug the fuel pump plug (4 wire) have some one crank the engine ande check for battery power on gray wire durring cranking,if battery power is present check black wire for good ground.if both power and grounds are present pump is no good.if now power then swap the fuel pump relay w/ same design relay (in the underhood relay center) relays are also a known issue w. the s and t trucks, good luck Thanks
