I recently replaced my "tumble generator valves" with ones that don't have the butterfly assembly (basically making it a straight through intake manifold) and I was down to the engine head. After replacing the gaskets and everything else I get that same problem. My car is fairly modified, however, and is probably running lean.

Your head gascet could be on its way out or you could have a hairline crack in your head [just hope it isn't your head because that wont be cheap]

2006 3.0ltr diesel turbo temp gauge goes up at idle but back to normal when driving engine not hot does not overheat when going long distance????

Maybe your cooling fan is broken. I had the same problem with a honda civic. It would overheat at idle or low speed, but at high speed the air forced through the cooler would keep the temp down. I don't know why it broke, but I just wired the fan to a circuit that came on when the car started. I used a multimeter to check the voltage of various wires in the engine compartment until I found one that was off when the car was off and on when the car was on.

2002 sunfire surges at idle with a/c on and a/c blows cold at speed, warm at idle

The temp gauge will go up due to the added load of the AC on the cooling system, and as long as it doesn't overheat you are fine. I would have the system checked for a low charge, the symptom,s fit. You will need gauges and then the pressures tested to find out what the system charge is doing.

Overheating at idle

sounds like a partially plugged radiator. Colder temps will be OK but when weather warms up the problem shows up too...check for leaves etc between the radiator and ac condenser before doing anything else. Stuff on the outside will act the same way as an internal obstruction.
