1999 gmc suburban-smoke comes out exhaust and smells like gasoline

If the check engine light is not on, I would check the fuel pressure regulator and for problems with the fuel return line.
If you have a leaking injector you should get a check engine light and code for a cylinder miss.

How do you access the fuel pump for a 1999 GMC Suburban.

you will have to drop the fuel tank to get access to the will have to remove all gas and vapour lines as well as electrical wires(plugs)as you drop the tank.its best to do this job with as little fuel in the tank as will have to support the tank with a jack and remove the tank straps then lower the tank.remove the sending unit lock ring and remove the unit form the tank, then you can see how to replace the pump.

Engine chugging the cutting out

Hard to say, it could be a dirty injector to and bad fuel pressure relay or the vacuume line to the fuel pressure relay. After that you could change the fuel filter, it may be dirty and causeing your pump pressure to drop when on demand. good luck and hope this helps

Engine not getting fuel

your fuel pump needs to be replaced. i had the same problem but i had a full tank of gas in it. so the easiest thing for me to do was to pull back the carpet and cut a hole. instead of dealing with the weight of the 36 gallons. they tend to go every 100,000-150,000

1999 GMC Suburban 2500. 454 engine

sounds like fuel pump pressure. I had the same thing happen to me in a Lincoln mark VII and the electrical connection was shorting out in the fuel pump. I changed the fuel pump..Returned under warranty) put the new one on with filter and had no problem with it.
