I typed this in before this screen came up asking for it again but I will type it in again. I was retracting the top from the closed position and it starated to open until it reache about the 1/2 way point when the motor started making noisese eventhough the top stopped moving. At that point I was able to move the top manually into the fully open position, which allowed me to electrically close the metal part that opens and covers part of the top when it is fully open(sorry, I do not know the name of that part). That part is now in the closed position and the motor does not open so I can pull the top ot and close it. I am pretty sure by some of the popping noises I heard that the motor and gear mechanism is shot that work the top. but is there a way to release the metal cover part manually so I can at least open and cloe the top manually untin I can get the motr replaced ? Try, it just be aware of pinch points and get ready to move fast. Also have someone at the ignition key ready to cut power in case anything jams.

Your best bet is have the system checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! If it showed a message top not secured there is a DTC stored in the control module ! there are 24 possible DTC'S

Anything can be dismantled, look for hidden screws under plastic fittings, or screws on brackets behind screen.

Extreme cold conditions may cause motors and other components to have difficulty functioning. I would suggest heating the garage to atleast an above freezing temp and try opening/closing the top again several times to find out for sure if this is your problem

If your antenna is of the electric type, mounted into the vehicle's body, then it is more common to replace the MAST only.

This is done by:

- loosen & remove the upper locking ring (between antenna & vehicle body),
- turn radio to ON. This will unwind the antenna & cable fully (if cable has teeth, note direction which cable is facing).
- feed replacement mast cable into cavity (ensure cable is facing same way as when it was removed) until cable stops feeding, and hold in position.
- turn radio power off. Cable should grab & begin to retract. Guide the new mast into position. As cable feeds in, the mast will follow and retract to its closed position.
- secure upper ring

I have a 02 Carrera and had the problem of the window remaining too high and preventing closing. i took the car to the dealer and they did something with the door handle mechanism, like unscrewing it and putting it back in place, which fixed the problem, no charge i think. i also had a bad starter switch and light switch on the front panel. when these were changed, my car now starts well and all lights work in the instrument cluster, which was a problem before.

2007 Pontiac G6 retractable top engine swithed off while raising, top continued to close in compartment right side upper forward pad looking thing popped and the compartment would not close, however the top will raise and go back in place, cannot leave top in compartment since the trunk lid will not close over the stored top..........

What are you using? A c-clamp or you hands? A c-clamp ussually works but can sometimes cause the piston to become ****-eyed in the caliper. Best bet is to use the proper tool or a c clamp. Both work good. If it won't retract with those, the piston is siezed. Time for a new caliper.
