Question about Mazda B2300

3 Answers

Having some problems getting into gears. sometimes it shifts fine, other times it does not want to go into gear. seems to be getting worse. if i turn the vehicle off, i can usually shift it into gear. sometimes it even gets stuck while in a gear. i recently was driving along a highway and could not get it out of 5th gear. can air get into the hydraulic line? can i bleed it? what are the odds of it being the slave cylinder causing problems?

So the clutch isnt didengageing? Check the inside firewall is there fluid on the pole going into the cylender? if so the master cyl is bad, check the slave for leaks also, and yes there is a nipple down there to bleed it it gravity bleeds, so fill it up and open the bleeder untill no air comes out, BUT MAKE SHURE you dont let the fluid container run out or you will be starting over :)

This is most likely with the synchronizers inside the transmission. I suggest that you take it to an AAmaco transmission shop in your area. They will diagnose and give you an estimate for free.

It may also be a symptom of a bad clutch master cylinder or clutch slave cylinder or perhaps a leaking hose or connection. Whatever the case, the primary cause is the fact that the hydraulic pressure is not building enough to disengage the clutch fully.
Check the fluid levels and check thoroughly for any leaks then bleed the clutch hydraulic system if that doesn't improve performance then replace the master and the slave cylinder and rebleed the system. That should get you shifting smoothly again

Hope that helps..........

Many times this is caused by either a sticking electronic shift solenoid in the transmission or the trans fluid and filter need to be replaced, has the trans been serviced, it should have been done at 60,000 miles.
