Problem for Chevrolet 1998 Cavalier
I have a 1998 chevy
i have a 1998 chevy cavalier and the anti theft system is on ive tried all the turn your car on for 10 mins. and shut it off and it should work but it doesnt. it flashes 5 times then shuts off but the car cuts out 2-3 sec. after turning over. i dont believe theres a chip in the key so i think it already may be bypassed i dont know im lost of ideas

- I have a 1998 chevy cavalier 2.2ltr 4door. The theft light always stayed on since i bought the car, then one day while driving it just turned off. I changed the main computer, tryed to program the key changed the wireing harness nuthing seems to work, it turns on for about 3 seconds and then turns off. - When I first start my '98 Cavalier it dies immediately and then seems to think I'm trying to steel my own car! This has been happening more and more. I have changed keys - doesn't help. I just end up sitting there for quite a while, open the door, get off the seat and when its ready it just might start! Really getting old.- GuestSolution #2

Turn the switch to RUN position for 10 minutes until the "theft system" message on the cluster disspears, put the switch back to OFF position wait 5 to 10 seconds and repeat this procedure another 2 times.
After the third attemp you will be able to start your engine without problems..
