Question about 2005 Ford Expedition
My 1998 Ford Expedition does the same thing after every winter. All you have to do is spray WD40 or PB Blaster into the lock mechinisms. Everything should work fine.

I was thinking of the intial complaint here (Posted by jodyolds on Feb 22, 2009) that there has to be water in that switch for the light's and it sounds like that is the case reading into their complaint.
The other lighting issues have quite a few options however.
1) lubricating the metal swicth ( looks like a pin midway high on inside on frame)that is closed by closing the doors ( good policy, hit all of them)
2) checking the light switch and its rotating bezel and where it is. Many different types of Expy's (auto light feature)
3) interior dimmer light scrolling dial and its location (on/off)(next to the light switch)
4) Check for rear light switch in load area left on.

Also if the lights continue to stay on and the spray does not work there is a door jamb switch
on the inside of the door you have to take the door panel offto get to it, its to the back of the
door where you have been spraying the wd40 I had been doing the same thing on my expedition and my f150 when i replaced the switch I have not had any problems since

Take some WD40 and open the doors and spray a liberal amount into each of the door latches. Then open and close the doors firmly several times. This will work most of the time to unstick the ajar switches.
