Can not lock car with keys or manual. please help,car is open park on street.

Check the ignition key slot - there is a little latch door where the key goes in and it sticks. If the little latch door stay open it will not let you lock the doors - the computer senses the key is in the ignition. I had the dealer fix it under warranty for my 03 X-Type.

I had that problem. My doors would not lock because my boot would not latch shut. I had a damaged wire that runs along the left upper opening of the boot. Wire ordered and replaced by my local mechanic for only about $88.00 (you most likely have a door or boot that is not closed).

Steering wheel lock
remove the switch , by following (old post) the FSM under steering
for Ignition switch removal.
this act , unlocks the lock.
one other way, is to destroy the cylinder, (ask a thief) and turn the guts
until it unlocks,

My '99 Passat had been operating with no problems until two days ago when we tried to turn the key in the ignition to start the vehicle. Not only did the key not turn, but it seemed that steering wheel...
Your steering wheel is locked in place. You need to put the key into the ignition, then turn the steering wheel more towards the way it is already turned and try turning the key then in the ignition. The steering wheel should move ever so slightly and it should free up the ignition. Let me know how this turns out.

Ignition key will not release from steering column
your tumbler is sticking and the park neutral saftey switch isnt working properly youll need to replace them heres a couple cheap places for those parts:

My key is stuck in my ignition
your problem is a solenoid Worth about 500 bucks in your steering column there is a small cover on the bottom of your steering column take this cover off and stick a pen up inside to push the button in this will release your key. a permanent solution is to jam something inside to hold the button in all the time. it wont hurt anything i've had mine like this for over a year
