Hi,

To my knowledge, most Ford models of this year uses a mechanical (diaphragm type) fuel pump not electrical. However, it is possible to install an aftermarket electric fuel pump in lieu of the mechanical pump. If this was done to your Ford F 100, it would either be either near the carbs or the fuel tank, follow the fuel line.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

Appreciate the "Ask Me". With your indulgence, I would be re-posting this in your original problem/post here.

To my understanding a "loud continuous clicking sound" indicates a relay or solenoid opening and closing, whereas an electric fuel pump would produce a low tone whirring sound. This might be of help, image of a typical factory installed mechanical fuel pump:

In the possibility that for some reason your particular model has an
electric fuel pump, then it would perhaps look something like this:

Ford F100 should have a mechanical fuel pump unless someone has installed an electric.

Fuel pump driver module

Hi Donald,

The Jeep electronics are all controlled by the onboard computer. If you have a problem with the fuel pump then it will be the fuel pump. The computer will give you a warning if there is anything wrong with the electronics.

Good luck.

Fuel Pump location

it is an electronic fuel pump module and it is located in the fuel tank. It is pretty simple to check for fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge. There will be a test port on the fuel rail.

If there is no pressure than check for power to the pump as close to the pump as you can and with the pump plugged in. Also check to make sure the fuel pump has good ground. The larger grey wire should be the power wire to the pump. Black is ground.

If you vehicle is fuel injected, it will be located in the fuel tank. Most fuel injected vehicles have an electronic fuel pump that require removal of the fuel tank to access it.

How to locate a fuel filter on 1991 XJ6

Try tracing the fuel line from the gas tank to the fuel injection. If you are unable to find it then most likely the filter is located in the fuel tank with the fuel pump if equiped with an electronic fuel pump. Some fuel pumps are located in the tank, by the tank, or on the engine. either way if you trace the fuel line you should find it unless it is in the gas tank like I mentioned. Good Luck!
