Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Alero
I am 16 and I just got an 2001 Olds Alero for my birthday. I want to kind of make it my own and change the shift knob. There is nothing wrong with my old one (stock knob) but I just want the new look. It is a manual transmission and I want to know how to replace it and if I can use just a Ractive Universal knob? If you had a diagram or something that would be awesome because I just can't seem to find one.
Thanks for the answer
I never took mine off but but I bet its either got a tiny allen bolt, or a locknut and its hidden under the leather or it has threadlocker from the factory and is not meant to come off. You might try and find an old grand am, grand prix or alero at the junkyard and go reef on one of those before destroying your stock knob, you could also try and call a GM mechanic at the dealership and ask them, just ask to talk to ther service department and then ask to talk to a mechanic. they would have to know, or maybe a local stereo place might know a trick or two. Hang onto that car if you can, it will be worth money someday..
