1995 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD 5.9L fuel pump or???

1995 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD 5.9L. I Thought I was having fuel pump problems, everything checks out. Dropped the tank, did some electrical tests, hooked the fuel pump back up clicked it over, it pumped out gas and then nothing, Unhooked and rehooked up the negative cable and it did the same thing. tried that again and it seemed okay. Lasted for a couple of days and now nothing. The negative cable dis/reconnect doesn't work anymore. Everything else still checks out. Code 12 but that could be because the battery got disconnected.

I have a 1997 Dodge ram with a 5.9, I am changing the fuel pump for the fourth time. When the truck is cold I have 50 psi fuel pressure. When it warms up it drops to 18 psi. i have had the wiring checked. The last pump only lasted 2 months.I have only bougth O.E.M Remanufactured pumps. I have another pump on order from dealer. Any one else ever deal with this situation?

Code 12 doesn't correlate, but Code 1282 may provide some insight. Code 1282 is "The fuel pump relay circuit seems to be having a problem", which would explain the disconnect/reconnect trick that sporadically works. Have the relay circuit looked at.

There is a fuel shutoff siloniod that is a giant electro magnet, it wears out after awhile, they are really expensive to replace if you go through Dodge or Napa, but if you look on ebay for a fuel shutoff valve you should be able to find one for pretty cheap.

This may help a little, the comp won't let fuel pump run for long w/o engine running. Like 2 seconds or less. To check fuel ya have to remove engine cover, hook up guage to test port on driver's side fuel rail then start engine. The best thing I did was get on ebay and find a FACTORY service manual, not Haynes or Clymer, they're not model specific enough.

Thanks for trying. I have a Haynes Repair Manual. There is no code 1282 it is a 12. The truck had sat for about a month. I put it on the battery charger, I'll be darned the POS started. Not wanting to take the risk, I didn't drive it. The next day it wouldn't start and still won't. The money factor is a real big deal.

Where is the inline fuel filter for a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 (318 hp)?

I don't believe there is one. The filter is on the top of the fuel tank and is part of the pump assembly. the tank will have to be dropped down to remove. 1999 dodge ram owner

1995 doddge ram 2500 v 10 cold starting problems. Both fuel pump and asd relays clicking but get no spark or fuel to the engine until they stop and you can hear the fuel pump pulse as they click. Up till...

until you have actually tested components like the crankshaft sensor and the ignition module and the actual fuel pressure it anyones guess. Recommening a part without any data or testing informaation can get more expensive than if you just let a shop fix it for you. Go to mitchell1diy online if you don't know what to do and you have the ability and tools to diagnose this otherwise your most likley going to end up in the shop.

1995 dodge van falls down when the fuel tank gets to 1/4 of fuel

sounds like a possible pluged fuel filter or a tired fuel pump. the pump is cooled by the gas. so if you work it at 1/4 tank or below it tends to get hot. but towing may make it hot anyway. check fuel pressure and the replace the fuel filter

Gas gage plays up down

This problem is all to common on all dodge trucks in the 90's, the fuel guage sending unit in the gas tank needs to be replaced. They won't sell just the sender, you have to buy the fuel pump module for $300.00
