You probably need ball joints, unless you have large aftermarket tires which means you only need an alignment.

Bows in at top or bottom? More than likely
you need your suspension aligned. The tire just follows the suspension. Misalignment can cause tire wear and handling problems. Front wheel drive cars need 4 wheel alignment to insure the back isn't steering the front. Other causes are shock/strut or control arm bushing wear or failure. Tie rod ends or idler arm wear can cause tire wear as well.
All parts should be tight and serviceable before alignment.

You should get it to a front end shop, automotive shop or to a mechanic because it could be the front end wearing out badly.

Why are you using it that way and wearing out

You know the problem or at least apparently
can't work on it yourself,so why hasn't it been

How many miles on these tires? Are they wearing on the outside edge, inside edge, or evenly across the tread? do you have them rotated regularly? Generally the number one cause of premature tire wear is improper inflation. Always use the tire pressure information on the sticker on the inside of your driver side door, not the "Max PSI" listed on the tire. The second cause is the wheels being out of alignment. Most tire shops will check the alignment for free. I usually suggest Firestone because they (to my knowledge) are one of the only shops left that do lifetime warranty alignments. I just got my hands on a 95 Pathfinder. The front tires have a lot of wear on the inside edges. I was told by seller that this is caused by driving on pavement in 4WD. As this is my first 4x4, I wasn't...


I'm guessing the lower ball joints are shot. This will cause the tires to lean in on the top and and wear the inside of the tire. I could be wrong! Try jacking the front wheels up and support the vehicle on jack stands, now grab the tire top and bottom and try to rock it in and out. If there is movement, you will have to have someone watch to see what is moving, while you rock it. If it's the ball joints, they will need to be replaced before you can align it. This can be spendy, there's a lot of labor involved.

I have a 1997 GMC Sierra. My front left(drivers side) tire wears horribly on the outside. (lookin at the tire from the front of the vehicle, the top leans out, and the bottom cuts in. The outside 6inches...


Align the truck, sound like the camber is out of adjustment the upper control arm is holding it out too much, or your lower ball joint is messed up and lets it tuck in. The tie rods on that truck have nothing to do with it. Ball joints are like 40 bucks each for a good one, and an alignment is like 50. Is this a 4wd truck? If you have torsion bars make sure they are not too tight, when you hit dips its gonna distort the tire to the ground.

Sounds like its either your "camber angle" or your tires aren't balanced correctly
